VAUGHT-HEMINGWAY STADIUM 2019 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PILGRIMAGE

                                        Vaught-Hemingway Stadium

It was the morning of November 4, 2019 and the Gray Rental Chariot (GRC) was packed for the 2nd Leg of the 2019 College Football Pilgrimage. Included in the cargo were the Blessings & Gifts that my Feet received from Bobby Dodd Stadium Grant Field. For more on the Blessings & Gifts, visit the Pilgrimage Section on the Homepage and click on the Bobby Dodd Stadium Grant Field Story. This is a 16,000 word short story filled with pics and images.

The drive from near Atlanta to outside of Oxford, MS, the home of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and the 8th Oldest College Football Stadium in the USA, was advertised for about 300 miles. It was estimated that with the driving skills and habits of My Feet, it should take about 5 hours or less. Speed was not a priority, but Safety and Good Health was. Most of the drive was programed by the GPS to be on freeways and 4 lane roads. When venturing from one Shrine to another Shrine alone, many thoughts entertain My Feet. With no-control on the outcome of the Pilgrimage, My Feet ventured into the UNKNOWN.

There are those who claim that they enjoy driving and there are those who do not make such a claim. My Feet fall into the second category, for driving is a necessity of getting from point A to Point B. As the driver, sightseeing is minimal as one’s senses have to remain vigilant for the dangers that lurk on the roadways. The GPS routed the trip back through Birmingham Ala, the landing point for the start of the 2019 CFP. It was on the same freeway taken to Atlanta from Birmingham. Mental notes were used as a reference for roadwork construction was part of the drive from Birmingham to Atlanta.

Stops were planned at the 100 and 200 mile mark to stretch and take a few Deep Breaths while enjoying the scenery. The anticipated construction roadwork did not cause any unexpected delays, but it did slow down the speeds of the Chariots. Once beyond the construction, the higher speed limit gave a sense of making-up for lost TIME. All seemed to be back on the original schedule around the 150 mile mark. Then an unexpected sign reared its head with a Warning. It read, ‘In 5 Miles, One Lane’. The Chariots were still flowing freely, but in a short distance, all would change dramatically. At the 4 Mile Mark, the Chariots pace dropped to a walk.

Though the walk kept moving, it changed into a slow baby’s crawl between the 4 and 3 mile mark. Progress was being made. To keep the Spirits of My Feet up, my thoughts kept reflecting on a statement once used in another writing. “Slow Progress is Progress”. One should remember that in the Game of LIFE, once the Progress Stops, the Dirt Throwin Will Begin. Eventually, at the 3 Mile Mark, both lanes of traffic were now at a Snail’s Pace. When one adds, a Snail’s Pace with no clock to inform the driver, one’s Patience is put to the test. The 3 mile converging drive took about an hour. Though the GPS kept offering new route directions with a few exits, it was decided to remain with Slow Progress.

The offered routes contained more mileage than the original route and Hope joined in as a passenger. With Hope, there was a possibility that the logjam could disperse in any moment freeing the backed upped traffic. My Feet were extremely GRATEFUL that the GRC was now near the front instead of the back of the traffic. When the point of construction was met, work was being completed at a rapid pace on the road surface of a bridge.

Once over the bridge, the traffic of the Chariots had dispersed and were spread out using the higher speed limit. It was then that My Feet noticed the traffic jam on the other side of the freeway. Bridge work was also being done causing the massive jam. The mid-afternoon hours had caused an increase in Chariots rolling to Atlanta. When the length of the traffic jam revealed itself, My Feet sent thoughts of Slow Progress and Patience to the other Chariots. All continued as planned, until Birmingham was reached. Signs indicated that due to construction, the freeway would end and all traffic would be diverted.

Since this was an unplanned event, while driving on the detour with no sense of direction, Wisdom woke up from a nap in the backseat. Wisdom advised My Feet to pull over and reprogram the GPS for a detour. The brief stop provided the opportunity to stretch and view the city of Birmingham. Another major stop was planned in about 30 miles. As the major stop was nearing, the right hamstring was demanding attention.

The Snail’s Pace caused by the bridge construction resulted in the Right Hammie being overused and the remedy would be ice. During the planned stop, Ice was purchased. Ice in plastic bags was then situated under the Right Hammie to soothe the attention. After more than 6 hours, the GRC finally found its next major campsite in Pontotoc, MS. The location was about 30 miles away from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, the 8th Oldest College Football Stadium in the USA. God was sent My GRATITUDE for a Safe & Healthy trip.

HISTORICAL VIEWPOINT

VAUGHT-HEMINGWAY STADIUM

Wikipedia writes, “In 1890, Dr. Alexander Bondurant, later the dean of the Ole Miss Graduate School, rallied Ole Miss students to help form an athletic department to encompass the sports of football, baseball, and tennis. The students brought this initiative to reality and in 1893, and with Bondurant as the coach, a football team came to fruition. During that inaugural football season with Bondurant as head coach, the first team won four of five games. Since then, Ole Miss has fielded a team every year except for 1897 (due to a yellow fever epidemic) and 1943 (due to World War II). In that first season, the team compiled a 4–1 record under head coach Alexander Bondurant.

One of those wins was the very first football game ever played by an Ole Miss team, a 56–0 defeat against Southwest Baptist University of Jackson, Tennessee (now known as Union University). This was on November 11, 1893.

The next year, 1894, Bondurant passed on his coaching duties. Ole Miss Football, a book published in 1980 by Sports Yearbook Company of Oxford, MS, says J.W.S. Rhea was the first coach at Ole Miss having been hired part-time by Bondurant and having led the 1894 team to a 6–1 record. The annual Ole Miss media guide lists C.D. Clark as the coach of the 1894 team and further says about him, “Although it has never been documented, it is thought that C.D. Clark of Tufts was the first paid football coach at Ole Miss. His name appears as manager of the team as shown in the Ole Miss Magazine dated November 1894.” The College Football Data Warehouse also lists Clark as the coach for the 1894 team.

In 1896, John W. Hollister led the Rebels to a 1–2 record. Ole Miss did not field a football team in 1897; a yellow fever epidemic cancelled the football season. In 1898, the school joined the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA). The 1899 team went 3–4 and beat a winless Tulane”.

According to little known facts found on the internet, early Ole Miss football played most of their home games on campus. Depending on the opponent, some early football games were scheduled in Jackson, MS to accommodate the larger crowd. One such game was the 1911 Egg Bowl. The events of the 1911 Egg Bowl spurned the idea for a larger football stadium on the campus of Ole Miss. Alex McDaniel from www.redcuprebellion.com writes.

“Thousands of Ole Miss and Mississippi State (then-Mississippi A&M) fans made the trip to Jackson in November 1911, continuing a relatively new Thanksgiving tradition of watching the rival teams face off at the State Fairgrounds. Spectators paid an extra $0.25 for a seat on the new bleachers, which offered the best view of the game and could fit up to 2,000 people. In the moments before kickoff, students and fans of both teams grew rowdier and more spirited, “whooping and cheering” and stomping their feet, according to newspaper reports, with people still trying to find seats among the 1,500 fans already packed in the stands.

It was then, witnesses told Jackson newspapers that the structure began to sway from the commotion. Horrified fans looked on from the other side of the field as the structure’s supports buckled and broke one by one, hurling the grandstand backward as it collapsed to the ground.

“In another second the mass of woodwork was level with the ground, and a thousand or more human beings were struggling, screaming and frantically engaged in trying to extricate themselves from a mingled mass of lumber and humanity.” – Jackson Daily News (Dec. 1, 1911)

More than a thousand people struggled to free themselves from the weight of debris and fellow prone spectators, leading many to prepare for the likelihood of fatalities. Somehow, the accident only resulted in around 60 injuries, many of which were bruises and broken bones.

JUDGE WILLIAM HEMINGWAY

Chancellor Andrew Kincannon’s secretary and daughter were both hurt in the accident. William Hemingway’s ankle was crushed, spurring his direct involvement in fundraising efforts for an on-campus stadium in Oxford that (unbeknownst to him) would one day bear his name”.

Most sources on the internet agreed that the Original Stadium on the current site began with the plans in 1912 as a federally funded project. Judge William Hemingway, a professor of law and chairman of the University’s Committee on Athletes spearheaded the project. After breaking ground the Original Stadium, took about three years to complete. Alex McDaniel of oxfordmag.com writes in August of 2017.

“When a group of Ole Miss engineering students was tasked with building the first football grandstand on the site of the present-day stadium in 1914—not 1915 as it’s often cited—they did so with full understanding of what their efforts represented. In Joseph Powers’ first year as chancellor, he called on students to take charge of managing several things on campus, including varsity sports, giving the student body “an interest in Ole Miss that was never manifested before,” according to a report in the Jackson Daily News. It came as no surprise when Powers approved football coach William “Billy” Driver’s idea for a grandstand constructed entirely by university students”.

OLE MISS NEWS STORY 1905

As progress on the Original Stadium continued, it was common knowledge after students spent the day constructing the university’s first football venue at the same site where Vaught-Hemingway now sits, a celebration of their efforts would take place. With the day’s work completed, a friendly varsity vs. scrubs scrimmage would take place. When the Original Stadium was completed, the Spearheading efforts of Judge William was recognized with his name on the Original Stadium. Hemingway Stadium officially opened with 24,000 grandstand seats on October 1, 1915. Head Coach Fred Robbins led the Ole Miss Gladiators to the Inaugural Day loss against Arkansas State by the score of 10-0.

1923 HEMINGWAY STADIUM OLE MISS

Plans were announced in October of 1922 for a concrete stadium to be designed by Ole Miss engineering students, which in turn would be erected by Ole Miss Alumni. Marked as another federally-sponsored project, the permanent foundation of Hemingway Stadium as a concrete and steel stadium began in 1939 and was completed in 1941. The concrete and steel structure also sat 24,000.

1946 HEMINGWAY STADIUM OLE MISS

By the end of the 1940s, plans set forth by then-athletic director C.M. “Tad” Smith would grow Hemingway Stadium. Before the 1950 season, the next phase of expansion began with one of largest and longest pressboxes in the country at 80 yards long. The capacity was also raised to 34,500.

As the Gladiator Sport continued to grow in popularity at Ole Miss, Hemingway Stadium also grew in capacity to 37,500 during the early 1970’s. Seats were added on both the east and west sides of Hemingway Stadium. AstroTurf was installed on the playing surface in 1970, and blue fiber glass seating was added to the West side stands in 1971 and later added to the East stands in 1973.

For unknown reasons, Hemingway Stadium shrank in capacity to 35,000 for the 1975-1979 seasons. Before the 1980 season, major renovations were ordered. Both end zones saw an increase in permanent aluminum bleachers bringing the capacity of Hemingway Stadium to 42,500.

In 1982, the Shrine was anointed a new name in honor of legendary coach John Howard Vaught. On October 16, 1982, John Howard Vaught saw his name added to the stadium. Vaught compiled an impressive 190-61-11 record as head football coach at Ole Miss and brought the Rebels their first National Championship in 1960.

In 1985 and through the 1987 seasons, Vaught-Hemingway saw a reduction in seats to 41,000. During the summer of 1988, the stadium received a major facelift, including a new press box, new aluminum sideline seating, restrooms and concession stands, plus a club level section for 700 people. When the 1988 season opened, Vaught-Hemingway Stadium had increased its capacity to 42,577.

Lights were installed for the 1990 season. Seven years later a new video/scoreboard (Jumbotron) was installed. Before the 1998 season, construction was completed on the upper deck on the east side of the stadium boosting the capacity to 50,000. In 1998, the Guy C. Billups Rebel Club Seating area was completed, placing an upper deck on the east side of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The new addition, which included a special seating section with an enclosed concession and lounge area, pushed capacity to 50,577. After donating over 5 million dollars, longtime, generous, supporter of Ole Miss Athletics, 1951 alumnus Dr. Jerry Hollingsworth had his name added. Another title was christened and changed to the current official name of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at Hollingsworth Field in 1998.

Before the start of the 2002 season, another major Renovation occurred at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Construction crews replaced the south end zone bleachers with a rounded bowl, adding luxury boxes and covered club seating in an upper deck, as well as additional general admission seating for students and season ticket holders; these renovations expanded the seats by nearly 10,000, giving Vaught-Hemingway a capacity of 60,580.

In 2004, a 150,000-square-foot  indoor practice facility and locker room facility was opened. This facility is linked to the existing stadium via a secured tunnel. For the 2008 season, Vaught–Hemingway Stadium got a new high definition Daktronics video board to replace the Sony Jumbotron that had been installed in the north end zone in 1997. The new board at the time was the 8th largest scoreboard in NCAA college football (fourth in the Southeastern conference), measuring in at 48 ft. (15 m) by 84 ft. (26 m) (4,032 square feet). Ole Miss’ board cost $6 million, all of which was paid for by Telesouth Communications as part of a multimedia rights agreement with the University.

In August 2011, the school announced Forward Together, a new capital campaign that would seek to build a new basketball arena and expand the Shrine. Phase 1 of the campaign included adding 30 luxury suites and 770 club level seats. In the summer of 2012, Ole Miss announced that they had received a million-dollar gift that was to be used in the Forward Together capital campaign. The school announced in honor of the gift they would start a new tradition and include a bell tower in the north endzone expansion that would be rung before Ole Miss games to let fans know the game is starting soon and after Ole Miss victories.

Following the 2014 season, the new Renovations continued to enhance the Battle Day atmosphere for the patrons. By 2015, the south end zone added 30 luxury suites and 770 club seats. In addition, new stadium lights, sound system, and 2 new video boards was added to the current south end zone. These Renovations shrunk the seating capacity to 59,347 inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Prior to the start of the 2016, Renovations continued. By closing off the north endzone, the student section was increased. The stadium’s new bowl shape brought the seating capacity to 64,038. The north plaza, including the Jake Gibbs Letterwinner Walk, was opened in 2017 and the Lloyd Bell Tower was completed in the spring of 2018 providing a ‘New Front Door’. 3 pics 2016 renovations

Stadiumjourney.com contributes next. “After the conclusion of the most recent renovations, Vaught-Hemingway Stadium now seats 64,038. 64,038 seems like an odd number right? No, not really, at least not for Ole Miss. Although it was an original estimate presented by AECOM during the design process, when Ole Miss associate athletic director Joe Swingle heard the number, he couldn’t believe it but he demanded that the stadium seating be left at exactly 64,038. Why, you might ask?

It is due to the significance of the number 38. The number 38 is very special to The University of Mississippi. From 1988 to 1989, the number 38 was worn by Ole Miss defensive back Chucky Mullins, whose football career tragically came to an end on October, 28, 1989 during the Rebels’ Homecoming game against Vanderbilt University after he sustained an injury that left him paralyzed.

In 2006 Chucky Mullins’ #38 jersey was retired, making it only the second jersey to be retired in the history of the Rebels’ football program with the first being Archie Manning’s #18. As a benefit of being the recipient of the Chucky Mullins Courage Award, the selected defensive player is gifted with the honor of wearing the #38 jersey for the season in which they were selected for the award. They are the only player gifted with this honor.

RITUAL DAY-11/8/19

After completing the Morning Routine, plans were put into action for Ritual Day at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The practice of a Morning Routine has been part of my Game-Plan For LIFE throughout most of my adult life. Depending on the stage of life and the allowance of TIME, my Morning Routine has been a steady practice. If a strategy could not be conducted during the morning, TIME was allocated during the day to complete the strategy.

Current information on the benefits and strategies for a Morning Routine is available on the web. After an extensive research of 60 Successful Persons, Dovile Sinke from  21dayhero.com/morning-routines-guide/ provides some her findings.

“Good morning sets a tone for the rest of the day. Tim Ferriss, entrepreneur, best-selling author, and biohacker said in his video how to build a successful morning routine:  “If you win the morning, you win the day”. Most of us would agree that having a healthy morning routine allows you to achieve your goals and ambitions easier and faster.

In fact, several health benefits such as better mental health, lower stress levels, increased energy, improved sleep quality etc. can be achieved as a consequence of having a daily routine.

* High performers pay a big attention to their mornings

* All of them have established routines they follow (almost) every morning

* Morning routines of successful people are similar

Hence, a lot of success must be contributed to a productive morning routine and in setting the right scene early in the day. I’ve looked into the best morning routines of 25 women and 35 men and this is what the successful people do first thing in the morning: (The author noted the importance of a regular daily wake-up time. 86% of successful people are out of bed before 7am.)

  * Exercising: engaging in some kind of physical activity such as working out, doing yoga, going for a walk, stretching (65%)

 * Checking e-mails or doing a bit of work (38%)

* Meditation (22%)

* Gratitude practice: journaling, making a resolution, expressing gratitude, visualization, positive affirmation, praying (22%)

* Reading a book or a newspaper (22%)

* Eating Breakfast (91% of Woman) and (87% of Men)  The author claims that if the survey was completed now, there would be a higher percentage of Breakfast Eaters.

* Numbers (%) refer to the percentage of people engaging in a specific activity, based on the total population of 60 successful men and women.”

The question should be asked, ‘What constitutes a Successful Person’? There are many standards to define a ‘Successful Person’. As an Educator, there was a handmade poster with a stolen quote that hung in my classroom and read, “Success Is The Peace Of Mind Knowing That You Have Done Your Very Best”. In other words, the monetary rewards of a career or job, will only determine your LIFESTYLE.

Joe DiMaggio, the Great New York Yankee Center Fielder said it best after being asked a question by a reporter late in the season and late in his career. When asked why he hustled on plays that had little effect on a game’s outcome or on his team’s standing, Joe replied, “Because there’s always some kid who may be seeing me for the first time. I owe him my best.” It was many moons ago that my Morning Routine included a Breakfast Shake, toast and tea. What started as a minor daily Breakfast Shake has blossomed into a major daily Healthy Breakfast Shake.

There was a TIME during the travels of My Feet, that my normal Morning Routine would be disrupted for my daily Healthy Breakfast Shake was not included. This disruption also affected my performance throughout the day and night. The purpose of a healthy diet is to consume foods and supplements that provide ‘Complete Nutrition’. Complete Nutrition will slow and prevent overeating. Most overeating is the result that the brain is in search of the Complete Nutrition that the body demands. If the target is not hit, the brain will seek more food.

Also, the change of diet affected the regularity of my Feet’s digestive system. Since most cancers in the human body begin in the digestive system, maintaining a Healthy Digestive System should be a high priority. If your goal is to do ‘Your Very Best’, then proper nutritional habits should be included in your Game-Plan For LIFE. A Saint, I am not. However, every item that is consumed should be analyzed before placing it into your mouth. Though calories are very important for weight control, the more Healthy items consumed will reduce the cravings for unhealthy items.

To maintain Homeostasis during the College Football Pilgrimages and other travels, my Healthy Breakfast Shake, additional supplements, tea, and fresh CRCR Coffee Beans from Boulder City, NV are now travel companions. A small blender that doubles as a coffee bean grinder is also included with a quart size Cold Coffee Brewer. With many nutritional shakes to choose from on the market, my choice is to construct my own for both home and away. Individual small baggies are prepared for travels. A campsite that has a refrigerator is required along with a microwave oven when possible. When selecting nutritional products, one should spend the appropriate amount of TIME on research to compare ingredients and price.

The Healthy Complete Nutrition Breakfast Shake (HCNBS) is a concoction of various products that can be purchased on the internet or other stores. Since taste is a priority, one should conduct their own tests. Included in the HCNBS are the following ingredients.

* A daily serving of the allOne Original Formula, which is Multiple Vitamin & Mineral Powder that includes 8 grams of protein, with Antioxidants and small amounts of bran, and other digestive enzymes. This daily serving provides all of the vitamin and mineral requirements for Homeostasis.

* 1 tablespoon of Lecithin Granules for Brain Food

* 1 teaspoon of Clear Fiber Powder to promote Regularity and to Support Heart Health

* 1 serving of either Superior Greens or Superior Purples, which contains Probiotics and Enzymes to Support Your Body’s Natural Ability To Cleanse, Detoxify and Rejuvenate

* 1 serving of 25 grams of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder, which is equal to about one-half of the Nutritional Requirements of Protein for my Homeostasis

* 1 serving of L-Lysine Pure Powder to provide an Additional Boost for the Integumentary System

My choice of beverage is a cup of Vanilla Soy Drink. One Banana is added along with a variety of frozen fruits. All of the ingredients are placed in a blender to create a HCNBS. A variety of toasted or non-toasted bread with various toppings of butter mixed with small amounts of honey or jelly is served with a cup of tea. CRCR Cold Brew Coffee will be utilized later and throughout the day for the effects of limited caffeine is beneficial for Homeostasis. Prior to my metabolism slowing down, the entire 25 plus ounces of HCNBS and toast would be consumed in one setting. Now a days, half of the HCNBS and the toasted bread are used for brunch and sometimes a late lunch.

Since most of my Complete Nutritional Requirements are met with the HCNBS, a lunch is not required. However, grazing on Healthy Snacks will sustain my Homeostasis until dinner. The Major Campsite in Pontotoc, MS was advertised to be about a 30 minute drive to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. While organizing items for Ritual Day, and with one foot almost out the door, an email chime from playinyourdreams51@gmail.com rang on my cellphone.

It was an email from Facebook Ad Team. As a Community Page under the name of Nick Feher ‘TAKE 5’ Foundation, the social media giant is used as an additional writing outlet. Since 2015, most of the paid ads on Facebook covered the local scene in Henderson and Las Vegas Nevada in short story formats. The format of Facebook is not conducive for most of the stories on my website. My unanswered questions as a Taxpayer led to ‘The Quest For the Truth of My Insanity’. This Quest uncovered a possible $1,000,000 Crime on the campus of Basic Academy/HS in Henderson, NV.

The Quest ended up in the 8th District Court of Clark County Nevada with a Temporary Injunction as Case No.:A-18-785265-C filed against the Clark County School District. Prior to leaving for the 2019 CFP, Dream Newsletter #16 was written and approved by the Facebook Ad Team to run as an ad for 28 days. The ad contained Public Court Records and a Letter that was sent to the CCSD School Board Trustees, and other top CCSD Officials, which is also a Public CCSD Document. The Letter outlined 4 years of personal investigations as a Taxpayer that pointed to a possible $1,000,000 White Collar Crime.

With a little TIME to spare, the email was read. Next is the email from the Facebook Ad Team, dated Nov 7, 2019;

Hi Nick,

Your ad isn’t running because it doesn’t comply with our Advertising Policies.

To learn more, view your ad in Account Quality. You can request a review if you think your ad was incorrectly disabled. (End of Email)

The 2019 CFP was a well-earned Pilgrimage. The 1st Shrine Bobby Dodd Stadium Grant Field was full of many Blessings and Gifts. Many more Blessings and Gifts were waiting to be uncovered from the next 2 Shrines. These Blessings and Gifts would then be converted into FUEL for the Oral Arguments in the 8th District Court against the CCSD. The Judge ruled in July of 2019  ‘Without Prejudice’ in favor of the CCSD to dismiss the Complaint for a Temporary Injunction. However, Without Prejudice meant that the case had Legal Merits, but under a different filing in another Court.

In lieu of forfeiting my ‘Legal Rights’ in this matter against the CCSD, so as not to be charged for the costs and fees accumulated by the CCSD during the legal proceedings, the CCSD filed a Motion to Collect Costs and Fees. After my Feet filed a Motion To Dismiss, and emailing “Let’s Make A Deal II” to the Clark County School District Top Officials, the CCSD requested Oral Arguments on Dec 4, 2019. The censoring of the DNL #16 on Facebook was puzzling. This was a 1st since my writings began in 2015. The ‘Puzzlement’ encouraged My Feet to Request a Review from Facebook’s Ad Team.

After a 30 minute search to Request a Review, Facebook provided no direct avenue for a Community Page to email the Facebook Ad Team. It was discovered on a Facebook info page, that as a Community Page, another Facebook user can file a ‘Complaint’ against the ad, if the TRUTH offends them. Facebook did offer other suggestions that included editing the ad. Since the Ad Story was over 9,000 words, where does one start the editing process without the HELP and FEEDBACK of Facebook?

The Crux of the Puzzlement was that the Facebook Ad Team originally agreed to run the Ad for 28 days after initially reviewing it and approving it for it met their ‘Advertising Polices’. However, 12 days later the Facebook Ad Team CENSORED the Free Speech of My Feet that was based on Public Court Documents and Public CCSD Documents without consulting with My Feet based a possible ‘Complaint’. This Puzzlement definitely affected the Homeostasis of My Feet in the preparations for Ritual Day. Though, My Feet has read and heard stories of Censorship by Facebook, My Feet had now joined those stories.

Though a Censorship Blow had been delivered by Facebook, the Practice in the Art of Shifting would be put into action. The Art of Shifting is rearranging your thoughts to focus on a Betterment of any situation. Depending on the situation, TIME will play a factor. Since the Nick Feher ‘TAKE 5’ Foundation is an extremely tiny Community Page that has about 150 plus ‘Like This Page’ followers, all the Facebook Ads are targeted to the Like Followers and the Followers Friends. Usually, a 28 day ad run will receive according to the Facebook Ad Team Results between 1,500-1,850 Hits. Since the ads are a Short Story, numbers do not indicate how many of those Hits read the entire story.

The Betterment included that for 12 days, DNL #16 had over 3,000 Hits nearly doubling an ad run of 28 days. Apparently, the TRUTH of my Feet Hit its Target. Plus, money would be saved. In addition, Facebook would provide a story about their Censorship Policies and how my Feet ‘Lost Their Free Speech Virginity’.

Once all the necessary items were stored in the Gray Rental Chariot, Vaught-Hemingway Stadium was programmed into the GPS. A sneak preview of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium was conducted the day before to seek some background information and to purchase souvenirs, including Tokens for My 2 Vixen Angels of INSANITY. Angel Compassion, aka Dgirl, has been a steady traveling companion with my Feet beginning with the 2014 College Football Pilgrimage. Angel Passion, aka Cellobat Chaffee, joined with Angel Compassion to form the DUET for the 2016 College Football Pilgrimage. They have operated as a DUET protecting my Feet since then.

Even though Angel Passion and Angel Compassion have remained at a distance shielding my Feet, it would Be Best to be prepared if and when they returned. The DUET wears various disguises as they perform their duties as Earth Angels. The next pic shows one in disguised as the Mad Hatter during a previous assignment. Hair color sometimes changes, but the color of the Miniature Universes ‘Disguised As Eyes’ do not. It is also KNOWN that Angels Compassion and Passion pose as Alpha Female Cats as indicated by the ‘Collar’ worn by Angel Passion in the pic.

ANGEL PASSION aka CELLOBAT CHAFFEE

Unlike the very heavy traffic near and in Atlanta for Bobby Dodd Stadium Grant Field, the 4 lane road to VHS was just the opposite. The countryside of Mississippi induced a peaceful feeling as the late morning sun brightened the blue skies. The first 20 miles were stop free. As Ole Miss University became closer, a slight increase of traffic was noticed. A few red lights slowed the drive but eventually the GRC found a parking space near Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. To be honest, the ‘Free Speech’ issue with Facebook still rented a large space in the IMAGINATION of my Feet. However, since my Feet had no control over the Facebook Censorship, the Art of Shifting continued.

Though there were other Chariots parked, the foot traffic was light. Most of the surrounding buildings and structures were devoted to the Athletics at Ole Miss. As with previous College Football Pilgrimages, this type of setting usually limits the flow of foot traffic of college students, staff and others. After standing outside while canvasing the area, 2 male college students were headed towards my Feet. The opportunity created the 1st pic for Fox Feather.

After scuffling for the notepad in the Clemson Stadium Bag, the 2 Male Angels who agreed to take the pic, also agreed to a short interview. Remember, an Angel is an human in disguise who HELPS others. When Angels are not available to take pics, selfies have now become the norm. The interview began with questions of names and origins. Simon and Jan were the Angels that flew all the way from Germany to assist with the pic.

Their main assignment at Ole Miss was that of Tennis Players. My Feet then realized that they were standing in the wings of International Angels. Simon was in his 3rd semester with his undeclared major. Jan claimed that he was in his sophomore year with a major in Banking and Finance. Each took turns telling the story about how their wings ended up at Ole Miss from Germany to be a member of the Ole Miss Tennis Team. Both at an early age found a Passion for Tennis. This Passion resulted in many, many hours being devoted to game of Tennis.

As with any learned craft or skill, one must spend countless hours to achieve a goal of Being Your Very Best. To play a sport at a major, mid-major, or smaller size universities and colleges requires Passion. As Simon and Jan continued rising in the German National Rankings in Tennis, they became familiar with each other. Their towns were separated by about 150 miles. Though they very rarely competed against each other, their familiarity grew.

L-SIMON R-JAN

During a National Tournament as their futures were being discussed, Ole Miss had entered the recruitment of both Simon and Jan. To show their worthiness as Students and Tennis Players, each had to qualify to attend Ole Miss. Their German National Rankings spoke for the worthiness  of their Tennis, while their academics, civil character and their LIFE’S achievements spoke for their worthiness of as Students. Eventually, TIME & Forces aligned and Simon was the first to commit to Ole Miss. Six months later, Jan committed with a text.

Now as transplants in a strange land & customs, on an almost all-paid athletic/academic scholarship, Simon and Jan continue to PLAYIN THEIR DREAMS at Ole Miss.

After THANKING Angels Simon and Jan for their TIME & HELP, the Clemson Stadium Bag was prepared for the Ritual Walk around Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The air was cool and the breeze with the winds added cooler air. It was decided that an Aliquippa Hoodie would suffice to combat the elements of the Ritual Walk. Early signs indicated that Solitude would join as a partner for the Ritual Walk. Solitude creates an atmosphere for my Feet to absorb more of the Energy that has been embedded in the structure of these Shrines by the past Passions of Gladiators and others.

NEXT ARE 2 PICS OF VAUGHT-HEMINGWAY STADIUM AT THE START OF THE RITUAL WALK.

Most spectators when arriving at these Shrines pay little heed to the Shrine’s History. If one takes the TIME to explore the past from the birth of these Shrines to the present day, Awe and Appreciation would add to the experience. The IMAGINATION of my Feet drifted back to 1915 and the layout of the vacant land that included a 24,000 wooden Grandstand Stadium. Over the years many structural changes have evolved, creating what is evident in the next 2 pics.  Path to Gate & Gate from Path

NEXT IS A PLAQUE HONORING CHUCKIE MULLINS

A passer byer took the next pic of Fox Feather and a selfie of Fox Feather with Solitude.

As written previously, one of the goals of Ritual Day is to secure a picture inside the Shrine either from the stands or standing on the Combat Field. Shrines are finicky. Some Shrines produce the moment, while other Shrines do not. When an opportunity presents itself to take a pic through a gate, my Feet are THANKFUL for those moments. Next a pic through a gate.

1ST VIEW OF COMBAT FIELD VAUGHT-HEMINGWAY STADIUM

The Ritual Walk continued with Solitude until my Feet met the opportunity for a pic with ‘Ole Miss’ in the background. After trying numerous attempts of taking a selfie and not achieving the desired results, a male figure appeared in the sunlight wearing a red jacket. Seizing the moment with pleas of HELP, this Angel agreed to take a pic with my Feet & ‘Ole Miss’. As a bonus, this Angel also accepted the request for him to be in a pic. After the pics were taken, a conversation then started. His name was Shea Stewart and he was on his lunch break. Recently he had returned to his Alma Mater in order to continue Playin his Passion.

Shea’s journey began as a native from a small town of Pelahatchie, MS located about 25 miles from Jackson, MS. It was a town of about 1,400 residents. Early in his LIFE, Shea took a ‘Liking’ to writing. With his high school degree in his pocket, this ‘Liking’ turned into a Passion when Shea enrolled in a nearby Junior College. After completing two years at the Junior College, Shea applied and was accepted as a student at Ole Miss University. Eventually, Shea graduated in 2000 with a Journalism Degree.

His first stop to Playin his Passion, was the Oxford Eagle newspaper. His beginnings began in the General Assignment Department and then branched out over the next 17 years to other departments and newspapers. While witnessing the decline in the newspaper industry, during his TIME at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette,  Shea returned recently to his Alma Mater to Playin his Passion as a Communication Specialist. His area of Focus includes, Music, Travel, and Food. However, for our shared moment, Angel Shea’s Focus shifted to the College Football Pilgrimage, stories about the Shrine, other nearby structures and the game of Football or The Celebration of Pigskin.

Shea confessed that as a youngster, his favorite Pro Football team was the Dallas Cowboys. And his favorite Cowboy player at the TIME was Tony Dorsett. Since Tony Dorsett was a native of Aliquippa Pa, his name opened up more topics of conversations. As our talks were winding down, my Feet asked Shea about gaining entrance into the Shrine. Though he was not able to assist, he did say that there were many gates and perhaps, one may be unlocked. Shea then offered a trip into the Pavilion at Ole Miss, the recently built new home for the Men’s Basketball Team. When asked about his lunch, Shea said with a SMILE, ‘Lunch can be purchased inside’. Our moment ended inside the Pavilion after my Feet THANKED Shea for his TIME. When Shea departed, a selfie was captured.

FOX FEATHER INSIDE THE PAVILION

Once back outside, the cool air and wind served as a reminder that the Aliquippa Hoodie was border-lined adequate for the Ritual Walk. Solitude again joined in the Walk. The next pics tell the story. The selfie caught the flags flying high above the Shrine.

A few more gates were met with locks as the Walk continued around the outer perimeter of the Shrine. The Art of Shifting continued within the IMAGINATION of my Feet. The Facebook Censorship continued to Rent Space but it was less than when the Ritual Day began. A Plaza was then spotted, which then began to Rent Space in the IMAGINATION of my Feet. The next stop was with John Howard Vaught. A moment was spent to honor the man whose name appears on the Shrine. Plus, my Feet put in the special request for a gate to be unlocked. Perhaps as with Bobby Dodd, at Georgia Tech who granted the special request, John Howard Vaught may ring the bell.

The Ritual Walk created the next 2 Pics of the 1st View of the Concourse and another pic of inside the Shrine. Both were taken through locked gates.

3 More Scenes During Ritual Walk

2 More Concourse Pics taken through a locked gate

As the Ritual Walk was coming to a conclusion, Shea was right. There were many gates. However, all were locked. The Stadium Signage provided Hope, for one main gate remained to be explored. When the Ritual Walk began, traffic could be seen entering and leaving the gate. Perhaps, this was the gate that Shea spoke about and maybe Coach Vaught tossed a ‘Hail Mary’ in its direction to answer the Special Request of my Feet for an unlocked gate for entry into the Shrine. The next 2 pics marked the spot.

While approaching the last unexplored gate, traffic was still visible. With Hope now as a companion, my Feet marched towards to the 2 Guards protecting the Gate. Once within close proximity of the Gate, the Lead Guard asked my Feet to state its business. The story of the 2019 College Football Pilgrimage was explained along with Ritual Day, which included gaining entry into the Shrine for a few pics. The Lead Guard asked for credentials to gain access to the Shrine, for without the credentials, entrance was not possible.

While taking out a card, my Feet explained that a written story would be published on a website and for a future book. Shea’s name was invoked along with his position as a Communication Specialist. Plus, it was Shea who suggested that others may HELP.  While reviewing the card, the Lead Guard said that the card, though interesting, was not the proper credentials. Seeing that the portals leading into the Shrine were close at hand, the Pleadings of my Feet began. During the Pleadings, the name of the Lead Guard was revealed. His name was Richard and he was a local native and a long TIME Guard for Ole Miss athletic events. A pic of him was requested for the story, but a denial was returned instead.

Since this was the last gate and the final opportunity to gain access into the Shrine during the Ritual Walk, our conversation lengthened. The 15 minute plus exchange of dialogue resulted in much being shared. Richard mentioned that he was a fan of the Gladiators and a Local Native. Every so often another plea from my Feet to enter would be thrown into the talks. Only to be met by the kind words of Richard, that the proper credentials were required. Towards the end of the moment, Richard also confessed that he was the Commander of the entire security force for the Shrine. My Feet even suggested that perhaps the other Guard could serve as an escort to the portals to capture a scene inside the Shrine. That suggestion was also gently turned down by Richard, who was now morphing into King Richard the Lionhearted.

Though Commander Richard acted kindly, his Knightly manner reminded my Feet of King Richard I. There are different opinions of King Richard the Lionhearted, but my Feet prefers the Romantic Version. King Richard with a great PR campaign cast a long shadow on his kingdom. He was known more as a great, passionate, military leader and warrior that squelched rebellions and fought in the Crusades, while being portrayed as a pious hero for his people. Eventually, my Feet realized that entrance into the Shrine would have to wait until the Celebration Of Pigskin. While exchanging my Thanks for his TIME, Commander Richard offered the invite to look him up when my Feet returned.

Parting pics from Ritual Day

During the drive back to Pontotoc, the Art of Shifting was rearranging the amount of Rental Space in the IMAGINATION of my Feet. The Blessings and Gifts that were given during the Ritual Walk demanded more Rental Space than the Facebook Censorship. My Feet had brief encounters with Angels. During each moment, the Angels displayed the Virtues of Passion, Compassion and many more Virtues. The 2 International Angels from Germany, and the 2 Local Native Angels shared their TIME  with my Feet. All sent Blessings of ‘Good Health’ and ‘Safe Journeys’ for the Pilgrimage.

With the mental cleansing from the Art of Shifting, thoughts of food began to Rent Space. After taking the exit, the highway was scanned for possibilities as the Gray Rental Chariot made its way back to the main campsite. As the distance shorten, within walking distance to the main campsite, the choice for food called out to my Feet. It was as though another Special Request was answered, for it would be local cuisine. While opening the door to the GRC, the barbeque aroma bombarded my nasal cavities, while my mouth tasted the heavy aroma.

BAPS BBQ & CATERING PONTOTOC, MS

During the ordering, a conversation fired up. My Feet asked questions, shared information including the Pilgrimage, and was provided answers. The local eatery had only been in operations for a few years and was usually opened 3-4 days of week depending on the season. The owners were Angels disguised as a married couple who shared the same Passion for food, especially food that was barbecued. A family decision was made to enter the local market to share their Passions with others.

With a large variety on the menu to choose from, the owners showed their Compassion and created the Fox Feather Special at an extremely fair price. The amount of food that was offered lasted for a few days, while reminding my Olfactory and Visual Senses of the Blessings and Gifts from Ritual Day. Look for BAPS BBQ if your journeys ever take you to Pontotoc, MS. Say hello to Ma & Pa Baps and family and ask for the Fox Feather Special. 3 pics

CELEBRATION OF PIGSKIN: 11/9/19

The late afternoon scheduled kick-off for the Celebration of Pigskin at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium provided a leisurely Morning Routine. With an out of conference opponent for the Combat Game, the usual large conference opponent crowd was anticipated to be smaller. However, it was Military Appreciation Day. For this Celebration of Pigskin, a permit to park the GRC on campus was purchased in advance and was secured during Ritual Day. Without a parking permit, one might either park on the outer perimeter of the campus of Ole Miss and have a longer walk. Or, park in designated lots off campus and ride the shuttle to the Shrine.

The arrival for the Celebration of Pigskin was planned for about 4 1/2 hours before kick-off. A map for game day parking showed a variety of possible campsites to visit. The main campsite located near the Shrine was the World’s Famous, ‘The Grove’. My Feet looked forward to walking through The Grove because of the tales from others in print and in the media. It was the tales of ‘Southern Hospitality’ from days of earlier TIMES. These fables spoke of ‘Fine Dining’ on tables adorned with beautiful tablecloths, rich silver, fine china with candle lite chandeliers. The Diners were dressed in the elegant styles from the days of the plantations. Southern Gentlemen accompanied Southern Belles.

All gear required was packed in the GRC, plus the Censorship by Facebook had been replaced by the thoughts of Ritual Day and the Celebration of Pigskin during the drive. The traffic was light and the arrival of the GRC went as planned. Upon entering the campus of Ole Miss, roadblocks were popular. The map showed the designated lot. However, it was simpler to ask for HELP. After pointing the way, the GRC found its lot that was protected by a guard wearing a florescent green jacket that covered the rest of her cool weather gear. The bright sun mixed with the blue skies requiring the use of sunglasses, surrounded the Shrine.

The GRC actually entered the back unguarded entrance to the lot. It was not until the GRC neared the front gate that the guard was spotted. After rolling down the front window and displaying the campsite permit, a brief conversation was exchanged. The guard confirmed that this was the correct lot. Since my Feet was an early arrival, the GRC was left running while exiting to converse more with the guard. Her persona exhibited high levels of ‘Southern Hospitality’, which my Feet found soothing. As our conversation lengthened, much was revealed between the two of us. She listened attentively while the moments of the 2019 CFP and other stories were shared.

Eventually, her named was revealed as Pinkie. She too was a Local Native and was living a Full LIFE. As the moment stretched, my Feet realized that they stood in the Shine of an Angel. This Green Angel wove her LIFE through a series of moments filled with Passion, Compassion and other Virtues. After graduating high school, the Green Angel went to Clerical School to enhance her education and skills. The Bible has been a steady companion throughout her LIFE. She is both an avid reader and a writer of interpreting the Bible. When necessary, she sometimes shares her Bible writings with others. Most of the writings remain private.

PINKIE THE GREEN ANGEL

TIME had produced multiple marriages and children for the Green Angel. Wanting to expand her skill set and to HELP others, the Green Angel earned an Associate’s Degree in the area of a Deaf Interpreter. She eventually added a Care Taker to her skill set and as a Coach for the Mental Disabled. Plus, she has full employment with the State of Mississippi HELPING others to find work according to their abilities. With 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, her children and spouses, and a few friends, the Green Angel also prepares the meals. Including the Thanksgiving Feast that was sneaking up on the calendar. Up to 20 or more were expected for the Feast.

When our moment came to close, my Feet THANKED the Green Angel for her TIME and submitted a request for a morning hug to begin the Celebration of Pigskin. With a SMILE as wide as her arms, the Green Angel wrapped her wings around my Feet and shared her Southern Hospitality. She also sent wishes for a Safe and a Healthy Pilgrimage. In return, similar wishes were sent back. With the lot wide open, the GRC found one that was in direct line to the Shrine. The Green Angel had said the walk to the Shrine was about 15 minutes or so.

Once parked, the preparations began for the Celebration of Pigskin. Though the cool, beautiful fall late morning would warm up, the mid-afternoon Combat Game would end after the sun gave way to the night. The GRC was in close proximity to the Shrine and other campsites. Plans were being made for only a return under the night skies. All necessary items including extra outer gear was packed in the Clemson Stadium Bag. Though the bag is restrictive in size, much can be stored. To assist for the day, CRCR coffee provided the Buzz and a 16oz bottle would be stored in the bag. 3pics

When the one-person campsite experience was finished, my Feet then started heading towards the Shrine. The next two pics marked the path. One was a Plaque marking Chuckie Mullins Drive and the Ole Miss water tower off in the distance.

A few other pics show early campsites and sparse crowds.

As the trek to the Shrine continued, more spectators and other personnel could be spotted. A staging area with carts presented itself. With so many campsite options to visit, directions were required. When in doubt, my Feet always seeks HELP. Sitting in a cart was the driver and one passenger. My Feet declared its purpose of wanting to visit campsites. On the map was designated areas for Recreational Wagons and other areas unknown. As a Fan of ‘Big Rigs’ for campsite cooking, questions were asked about possible locations and the other areas for campsites besides The Grove.

The driver was the first to offer suggestions concerning the locations for the Recreational Wagons along with the location of The Grove. When the driver was finished, the passenger offered his words. He said that ‘Big Rigs’ and other campsite locations were nice but were not in the same caliber as The Grove. He said that The Grove is The Show, for it is the only Grove in the College Football Universe. The male passenger showed signs of turning into a member of the Welcoming Party and suggested to hop on board for his destination was The Grove. Though the cart was marked ADA, the driver said all was welcomed. In a flash, the cart zoomed to the direction of The Grove. More conversation was exchanged with the Welcoming Party and pics were snapped during the ride.

Before the experience of The Grove can be described, a step back into the history of The Grove is next. Sources include Wikipedia, and collegegridirons.com.

Originally, gathering in The Grove was an informal tailgating get-together when most serious pre-game socializing took place at the fraternity and sorority houses. The Grove is a 10 acre park and takes its name from the oak, elm and magnolia trees that surround the area. By the 1950s, the Grove started to become its own pregame tradition. Automobiles, including RV campers, have been kept out of The Grove since a rainstorm in 1991 that reduced the Grove to a rutted swamp. The autos were replaced by tents. Eventually, this led to fans clamoring that other fans had taken “their spots,” which created The Ole Miss Alumni Association’s Grove Society that began in 1998 to preserve the 10-acre green space. The Grove Society posts a strict schedule for the event.

Described as “the Holy Grail of tailgating sites” by the Sporting News, The Grove comes to life around noon the day before the home games. Fans begin to arrive to “stake their claim” (campus rule is no one allowed before 7:30 pm, which is strictly enforced by campus police) to grab their spot in The Grove. With The Grove surrounded by deep rows of fans on all 4 sides, a whistle is blown at 7:30pm to signal for the Land Rush. Descriptions for game day include that upward to 100,000 fans may visit The Grove including a large number with no game ticket.  This usually serene area of campus becomes a sea of red, white and blue tents. However, a portion of the tents are set up by professional tailgate vendors and not the students or families themselves.

Some campsites are simple and traditional, while others are decorated with décor that could give Buckingham Palace a run for its money. Published reports state that Ole Miss students and others generally dress in their Sunday best. While most would find it a bit ridiculous, game day attire at Ole Miss for the most part consists of cocktail dresses, sundresses, heels, and fine jewelry for women with hair and makeup done perfectly, of course.

As for men, some will wear slacks, sport coats, and button up shirts with either ties or bowties, while others will opt for a more casual look consisting of an Ole Miss polo shirt, khakis or jeans and either loafers or cowboy boots. Many tents are set up with fine kitchenware, with lots of lace and designer doilies, fine china, chandeliers, sterling silver or silver plated candelabras and sterling silver or silver-plated utensils along with chandeliers in some tents. Much of the food is laid out on table cloths in sterling silver or silver-plated servers. 2 welcome pics

After arriving at The Grove, the 2 pics above were snapped. One shows the driver & cart and the other is the member of the Welcoming Party named Jimmy D. As a Faithful Fan, Jimmy D discovered his Passion for Ole Miss when he was a teenager. He was local and had recently transitioned from the Wheel Business that sold wheels for Chariots, Carts, Recreational Wagons and other modes of transportation that required wheels. Two daughters who graduated from Ole Miss were created with his Beautiful Woman, Rosemary of 40 years.

Jimmy D explained that the others at the campsite were also Faithful Fans and most have been sharing a spot in The Grove for the past 18 years. Though many campsites have been claimed, it is the perimeter that has now become their favorite; especially, in their roles as the Welcoming Party. Their campsite was situated on a major walk area surrounding The Grove. It faced the Shrine and provided a steady flow of foot traffic, both around it and through it. After providing a brief, but thorough history of his TIME in The Grove, Jimmy D then introduced my Feet to the others.

During the intro to Greg S, the Aliquippa gear was mentioned by Greg. He asked if my Feet were from Aliquippa, and after gaining a Yes, Greg mentioned that he spent about 8 years in Moon Township about 10 miles south of Aliquippa. Greg earned the 1st Mention of Aliquippa in Mississippi. He was a native of the state of West Virginia and a graduate of West Virginia University.

FOX FEATHER & GREG S AT WELCOMING CAMPSITE

After listening to a short version of ‘The West Virginia, Greatest Game at Pitt Stadium Story’ from my Feet, Greg continue to share more about his journeys through LIFE. He said that he spent TIME in Clarksdale MS, the ‘Home of the Blues’, which triggered memories, for my Feet drove through Clarksdale during the 2011 CFP to Tuscaloosa, Ala. It was during his travels that he found his Southern Belle, Royal Ann. Jimmy D and Greg S met in the Grove about 20 years ago and have shared a campsite for many of those years.

My Feet also met Robert F who assisted in one of the pics above. Robert has only recently become a loyal fan of 10 years. Originally from Memphis TN, and after obtaining his Education Degree from Delta State in 1962, he has remained in Mississippi. Robert spent TIME in various locations in Mississippi including Cleveland and Clarksdale. It was in Clarksdale that Robert taught the Southern Belle, Royal Ann in high school. Eventually, Robert moved into administration as a high school Principal in Cleveland, MS. His daughters are graduates of Ole Miss. Next is a pic of part of the Welcoming Party at The Grove.

WELCOMING PARTY AT THE GROVE
GREG S-ROYAL ANN-ROBERT F-JIMMY D

Before departing, well wishes were exchanged and offers of food and drink were extended for my Feet. The Welcoming Party explained that familiar faces, acquaintances, friends, family members and even strangers that are strangers no longer always stop by their campsite to exchange well wishes. The one common theme that was shared by those in the Welcoming Party was ‘You should be here next week for the LSU Game. There will be over 100,000 fans in The Grove’. With a SMILE a reply would follow, ‘Next week my Feet will be visiting your cousin who is entertaining Alabama’. However, my Feet will return today for your offer of food and drink.

Next are 3 pics of the Perimeter of The Grove.

During the tour of the perimeter, Shades of a Different Color of the Ramblin’ Reck from Georgia Tech was parked nearby. While talking with the current Caretaker of the Ramblin’ Rebel, Bobby suggested to visit other sources for more info. Hottytoddy.com and olemissalumni.com contribute next.

Tad Provence, a Grad of Ole Miss, is the Providence responsible for the Ramblin’ Rebel. In the late 1990s, while expanding his flooring business, he bought an 800-square-foot metal building previously owned by a car buff. Inside were the scattered, disassembled pieces of a 1930 Ford Model A Sport Coupe. The pieces to this Model A were strewn all over that building, so he piled them in a corner and said, ‘One of these days, I’m going to do something with them’. “Deep down inside, had already decided that I really wanted to copy the idea that Georgia Tech had with their Ramblin’ Wreck. I decided I would build the car for that purpose and then kinda hang out and wait for my time to bring it to Ole Miss.”

The painstaking restoration began in 2005, and lasted more than two years. “I found a guy here in Georgia who is a fine restorer and rebuilt the car, built it from the ground up, piece by piece,” Provence says. “The car has been rebuilt to the original specifications except for the red and blue color. It’s basically like a brand new car now.” Provence made his dream a reality. The time had come for him to share it with the Ole Miss faithful.

Provence first brought his car to campus in 2008. “I just kind of started showing up, parking the car wherever I could,” he says. “Nobody really bothered me, even though I was parked illegally, by the Grove, showing the car.” He returned in 2009, and discovered that even an Ole Miss-themed Model A can’t drive around campus parking rules forever. Police relegated him to whatever parking space he could find around the Loop, early on Friday, just like any other car.

FOX FEATHER & RAMBLIN REBEL

In the 2010 season, Provence found Providence again, in the form of Alumni Association Executive Director Tim Walsh, who gave the Model A a prominent spot at the Triplett Alumni Center, at the corner of Grove Loop and Alumni Drive, next to the throngs of Grove tailgaters. Provence says he has more than $50,000 invested in the Model A — a car, by the way, which retailed for around $1,000 in 1930.

The car makes appearances at club meetings and other Alumni Association events, in addition to being parked at the Alumni Center for every home football game. Due to the passing of Tad in 2016, his ultimate dream is still on hold. Tad had visions of ‘His Model A leading the Ole Miss Rebels into Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, cheerleaders hanging onto the running boards, Ole Miss’ new mascot in the rumble seat. And he hoped to contribute the car in a more official way’. After the death of Tad Provence in October of last 2016, his cherished “Ramblin’ Rebel,” a 1930 Ford Model A Deluxe Coupe, fell into the hands of its newest caretaker, Bobby Ingram.

Ingram drives the car to every home game where it is displayed beside the Grove and to all other events. He spends time taking care of the car and ensuring that it will run strong when it is called upon. Bobby made a pledge to the Family of Tad Provence that he would be the Caretaker of ‘Ramblin Rebel’ until TIME & Forces said otherwise. Bobby’s Dreams include plans on training the next caretaker about how to maintain the car, noting that with the right maintenance, it can stand the test of time existing alongside the campus as a symbol of the culture on the Ole Miss campus, like the trees in the Grove. “If I had it my way, the next intern will be able to carry on to the next intern and on and on,” he said. “The university, the alumni, will all have something to look forward to. One more thing … I know that car.”

While walking away with the Blessings of Ramblin’ Rebel, the Energies of the Ole Miss Cheer Squad members walking to the direction of my Feet, added to the Energies of The Grove. Previous experiences with Cheer Squad Members always produce similar results. Since their identities are unknown, it is as though their uniforms possess some Magical Powers. As with Super Heroes, the Uniform gives them Powers of SMILES, and unbridled Enthusiastic Energy. Whether these Magical Powers exist when the Uniform is removed, only the Cheer Squad Member KNOWS.

FOX FEATHER & OLE MISS CHEER SQUAD

This Energy is always noted. After explaining that my Feet came all the way from Las Vegas, NV for the Pilgrimage, seeking a pic with members of a Cheer Squad, a pic was agreed upon. While posing for the pic, my Feet extended their THANKS and told the Super Heroes that their Energies were off the charts.

With all the Energies stored in my Feet, they walked to the area known as ‘The Walk of Champions’, which has become a Game Day Tradition through The Grove. The olemissyearbook.com contributes to the story. ‘For Ole Miss fans, there is one tradition that stands out above the rest. It brings the football players right into the heart of Rebel Nation. It’s known as the Walk of Champions. About 2 hours before every home football game, the Ole Miss Rebels walk through the Grove where their fans are waiting to greet them wearing their best and in Red and Blue while “Are You Ready” rolls through the Grove.

In 1983, Head Football Coach Billy Brewer would take a different route every home game Saturday, starting at the old athletic dorm, Kinard Hall, and lead them to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. During the 1985 season, he started taking the same route every week. The same route that the Rebels still take to this day, walking from the Student Union, through the Grove, all the way to the stadium. Fans lined the path on both sides and some even gave high fives to their favorite players as they walked through the Grove. The 1962 Rebel football team gave the school the picturesque “Walk of Champions” arch in 1998. This team was the only Ole Miss team to ever have a perfect record. They also won an SEC title that year’.

The uniqueness of the Ole Miss Walk of Champions is the setting of The Grove. Though my Feet had witness other Walks at various Shrines, the Ole Miss Walk goes through the campsites of the Ole Miss Nation uniting fans with the Gladiators. Think of it as a small parade through a Medieval Village constructed between the trees. The fans lined the path and offered cheers of encouragement for their Gladiators. This parade also included music supplied by members of the Ole Miss Marching Band and echoed throughout The Grove during the march. Situated near the Arch, part of the Band continued to serenade those remaining after the Walk was over. My Feet then basked in the sun while standing on the plaza of the Student Union observing the fans and The Grove.

After enjoying the sights, sounds and smells from the perimeter of The Grove, my Feet decided to take the plunge into the small forest. Many campsites were set up and most were identified with a name. There were names of towns, regions, cities, states and personal names. Each campsite offered something different and the same. Though security was on site, it was encouraged with signs to report issues.

As the tour of The Grove lengthened, my Feet were on a mission for evidence of ‘Fine Dinning Fables’. During the search, my Feet discovered another area where the Ole Miss Marching Band music was originating from. This music permeated throughout The Grove adding to the music from the individual campsites. A permanent structure was built for the Band and Cheer Squad to perform. Small ensembles would rotate to entertain the crowd, while other members of the Band and Cheer Squad would refuel for the upcoming Combat Game.

The search for ‘Fine Dining’ continued with stops along the way. Occasionally, my Feet sought the Wisdom of others about ‘Fine Dining’. Adults, college students and children were asked questions about the location. Mixed answers were the result. Some pointed into a direction, while others offered no directions. After taking a moment to watch the children play, my Feet stumbled upon the 1st Chandelier.

1ST CHANDELIER SIGHTING IN THE GROVE

With the taste of a Chandelier, my Feet ventured onward looking for ‘Fine Dining’. Many intersections were crossed while walking past many campsites that had names from near and faraway places. The Exit TIME from The Grove was approaching and still no signs of ‘Fine Dining’. To be honest, my Feet were relieved that they were not visiting next weekend for the LSU Game and a crowd of 100,000 or more. That mass of humanity on 10 acres could best be described as a ‘Traffic Nightmare’. Since my Feet are not a fan of Traffic, this lighter Traffic was appealing.

The search for ‘Fine Dining’ was proving futile until my Feet had an encounter with a couple in a small clearing. The conversation was brief, but extremely informative. The Clearing Couple cleared up the stories and fables of ‘Fine Dining’. Though no pic was taken of the Clearing Couple, the following was their story. Both were alumni and long TIME loyal followers of Ole Miss Football. They were witnesses to ‘Fine Dining’ of days long ago. It was when the Chariots of different sizes and Recreational Wagons were permitted to park in The Grove during the Celebration of Pigskin.

Once parked, the unloading of all the necessary items would begin. Long tables with chairs would be set up, followed by ‘Fine Dining’ necessities including hanging chandeliers. Once the setup was completed, the campsite members would change into the appropriate garb for the Elegant Event. After the floods of 1991, all vehicles were banned from parking in The Grove leading to the demise of ‘Fine Dining’. Though some campsites struggled at first to continue the Traditions of ‘Fine Dining’, the struggles did not equal the results, leading to only small remnants of days past. The Clearing Couple pointed my Feet into the direction of remnants.

While walking to the remnants, my Feet enjoyed the Energies of the Beauty, the sights, the smells and the music that The Grove had to offer. Standing among a throng of villagers was a Southern Gentleman from the era of ‘Fine Dining’. When the throng thinned out, my Feet moved in for more information of this Southern Gentleman. Perhaps, he had more info about ‘Fine Dining’. His name was Colonel Reb as cards were exchanged. He too remembered ‘Fine Dining’, but said those are days of the past, for ‘Fine Dining’ in The Grove no longer exists.

FOX FEATHER & COLONEL REB

Jon Rawl of the Oxford writes the following on Colonel Reb: ‘Sgt. Butch Harris (USMC, Ret.) was the featured speaker at Memorial Day 2014 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford, Miss. A native of Water Valley, Harris joined the Marine Corps in 1965, and began a three-tour deployment to South Vietnam in 1966, where he was a member of the Third Force Recon Battalion. His decorations include two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars for valor, two Meritorious Service Medals, and more. After leaving the military in 1970, Harris settled back in Mississippi, where he retired from the University of Mississippi’s Physical Plant in 2007. In his spare time, Harris has been known to dress as “Colonel Reb” and attend Ole Miss sporting events’.

Near the area with Colonel Reb, my Feet spotted ‘Remnants of Fine Dining’. It was an average size campsite called the Zebra Tent. The villagers wore the clothing styles of the current day. My Feet remained on the perimeter and took a couple of pics. During that moment, a conversation began with a villager from the next door campsite called the Delta Peach Rebels

DELTA PEACH REBEL CAMPSITE IN THE GROVE

The villager from the Delta Peach Rebels campsite was a native Mississippian. He was also the Proprietor of the campsite. As my Feet told the tales of the 2019 College Football Pilgrimage, the Proprietor called in another villager. His name was James and he spoke the gospel of Southern College Football, ‘Everywhere else football is a sport. In the South, it is a way of LIFE’. Not only did James speak the gospel, he has been a masterful musician for over 30 years. Originally from Louisiana, he now calls the state of Mississippi home. James writes his own songs and has played with big bands, small bands and as a soloist. His tools of the trade consists of vocals, guitar, bass and keyboards. He continues to perform his Passions to this day.

After meeting a few more of the members of the Delta Peach Rebels Campsite, the Proprietor returned for another visit. He confessed that he was not an alumnus of Ole Miss, but had been a loyal fan of the Rebels since his youth. Fables were spread throughout the native lands of the Proprietor that Ole Miss was only for ‘Rich People’. Since the Proprietor’s parents believed in the Fables and because they did not see themselves as Rich, his parents had other plans. The Proprietor was directed to Delta State University the home of the ‘Fighting Okra’ to complete his college education with a degree in Accounting.

For many years, a variety of campsites inside The Grove had been used. Louie the Proprietor and other members of the Delta Peach Rebels have set up on this campsite for the last 10 years, missing the Campsite location only once. Louie then described the Friday evening Land Rush in The Grove as a scene from the movie ‘Brave Heart’. When the whistle blows to signal the Land Rush, Louie and other clansmen can be seen hustling and singing ‘Save the Tent Spot’. This campsite is Prime Real-Estate, for it sits on the Walk of Champions.  After a review of the numbers, the Proprietor figured that his son could attend a university of his choice. His son chose Ole Miss and is now responsible to secure the campsite location during the Land Rush. The future LSU Game will put his skills to the test.

Next are 2 pics of Jim, Liz, and Bentley who is a Junior at Ole Miss majoring in Banking and Finance and one of Fox Feather and Louie the Proprietor.

Well wishes were exchanged with Louie and other members of the Delta Peach Rebels campsite as my Feet exited the area seeking its way back the campsite of the Welcoming Committee. Food and drink had been offered at various campsites throughout The Grove including the Delta Peach Rebels. The Hospitality of the campsites within The Grove were of the highest standards. However, my Feet had pledge to eat and drink at the campsite of the Welcoming Committee.

Pics of the walk back to the Welcoming Committee.

Eventually, my Feet made its way back to the campsite of the Welcoming Committee. It had grown in size since my departure a couple of hours ago. Food and drink was offered again and it was accepted. Questions were asked about the adventures in The Grove and my Feet answered the questions and included ‘Fine Dining’ and the Energies of the Beauties, the sights, the smells and the sounds. After gobbling up the chow, more introductions to the new members of campsites was on the menu including the 4 Mississippi Girls.

Their Southern Belle Energies, SMILES, Beauty, and Hospitality was the dessert. It was one of those rare moments that TIME & Forces arranged. Though our moment was brief, it was packed with stories of Gladiators. My Feet swapped tales of its days with Pitt Football and the 4 listened attentively. Each then told a different story about their moments with Ole Miss Football and other football moments. All 4 were extremely knowledgeable and well versed in football, especially Ole Miss Football.

4 MISSISSIPPI GIRLS OF BEAUTY
AT WELCOMING CAMPSITE

One of the 4 told the story of her father who was a Gladiator at Alabama University. He had the opportunity to play against then sophomore QB Archie Manning from Ole Miss. She remembered that her dad described Archie Manning as being a skinny, lanky teenager loaded with a ton of talent. As the Exit TIME was approaching, the 4 Mississippi Girls offered a departing Gift. They arranged for my Feet to be in a pic with Beauties visiting from another region called the Jersey Shore. Elizabeth and Olivia were their names and each were outfitted in an Ole Miss hoodie and Holy Jeans. Like my Feet, they too were visiting The Grove for the 1st TIME. Olivia’s brother was a freshman at Ole Miss, so the 2 Jersey Shore Girls were visiting for the weekend.

Both with their enthusiasm and SMILES explained that their visit so far, including The Grove, was Amazing. With DREAMS of college on the horizon, the 2 Jersey Shore Girls agreed that Ole Miss was now on their radar. While the pic was being captured, my Feet assured them that their Jersey Shore SMILES and Beauty would be a welcomed addition at Ole Miss. Plus, our Virginity was now lost with our first visits to The Grove. Well wishes and THANKS were exchanged with the villagers at the Welcoming Committee Campsite.

ELIZABETH-FOX FEATHER-OLIVIA

One of the males then left an imprint for the IMAGINATION of my Feet. He said that if there was ever a return visit to The Grove to arrange it when it was Hot, Humid, and Sweaty. The atmospheric conditions would create the unveiling of ‘More Skin’ of the Beauties of The Grove. A SMILE slowly appeared on the face of my Feet with a response, ‘I will keep that in mind’. While walking away, once last pic was taken of The Grove as thoughts of Jimmy D of the Welcoming Committee returned. He was truthful about his assessment of The Grove when he offered a ride, ‘The Grove is The Show, for it is the only Grove in the College Football Universe’.

As the result of heeding to his Wisdom, many Gifts and Blessings were offered by The Grove. Included were two that are sought and are always on the list for the Celebration of Pigskin. My Feet were captured in a pic with Cheer Squad Members and Local Beauties who were visiting from the Jersey Shore. Even though, ‘Fine Dining’ was not discovered and is a relic of olden days, all  the other Blessings and Gifts that The Grove offered including the Ole Miss Hospitality made up for the lack of ‘Fine Dining’.

DEPARTING PIC OF THE GROVE

The Shrine was located a short distance from The Grove. Though the sun was bright and the temps were higher than earlier, the breezes and the winds called for another layer of outer gear. Instead of entering the closest gate, my Feet retraced their steps from Ritual Day to enter the assigned gate on the ticket. By not following the directions as outlined on signs, the longer route was taken. The crowd as expected was not as large as advertised for the LSU contest next weekend.

Next is the 1st pic of Fox Feather at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the Celebration of Pigskin.

CELEBRATION OF PIGSKIN

The check-in line at the assigned gate was short. Security under the directions of King Richard the Lionhearted was thorough and efficient. After checking the Clemson stadium bag and scanning the ticket, my Feet gained entrance into the Shrine. Since The Grove consumed a great deal of TIME, much of the pre-Combat Game festivities had been missed. The Ole Miss Marching Band could be heard playing from the combat field through the portals and other gaps in the structure.

Next are 3 pics of the Concourse for the Celebration of Pigskin

As my Feet continued to walk to the assigned portal, the crowd appeared to be less energetic than other crowds at previous Shrines. My Feet had walked previously in the 10 Largest College Football Stadiums and other Shrines in the USA during past College Football Pilgrimages. The 2015 Welcoming Fan at Neyland Stadium at Tennessee University said, ‘Welcome to the Cathedral of College Football’. It was after that moment, a classification of Shrines was developed. The 10 Largest  College Football Stadiums would be classified as Cathedrals. Shrines that held 50,000 fans or more, up to the 10 Largest Stadiums would be known as Temples. Less than 50,000 seat capacity would be identified as Chapels.

As a Fan of Energy, the Temple at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium apparently was saving its Energy for the LSU game next weekend. Just as the assigned portal was nearing, the announcer asked the crowd to stand for the playing of our National Anthem. Without hesitation, my Feet entered the nearest portal to partake in honoring our Flag and Country. As on cue, the Ole Miss Marching Band strummed up the music as my Feet entered inside the Shrine for the 1st TIME. When the Band completed the Anthem, the next pics are the 1st pics inside the Shrine.

1ST PIC OF FOX FEATHER IN SHRINE FOR CELEBRATION OF PIGSKIN

Realizing that kick-off was approaching, my Feet did an exit out of the portal to make a B-Line to its assigned seat. The small crowd permitted a quick stop at the potty and for a bottle of water. Just upon entering the row, the Ole Miss Gladiators charged onto the Combat Field led by the Ole Miss Cheer Squad. The fans showed their appreciation with a roar of approval.

When the entrance smoke disappeared with the help of the breezes and winds, my Feet completed its journey down the steps to its assigned seat. It was there a discovery was made. The seat was occupied. After fumbling through the Clemson stadium bag, the printed ticket was recovered. Since the area was not crowded, it was determined that the 2 males in the assigned seat area were in the incorrect seats. The 2 males were named 2 Wrongs Can = a Write. After settling in, small talk began and the 1st pic of Fox Feather was arranged near his seat in the Shrine. The kickoff signaled the start for the Combat Game.

As the Combat Game played on, it was obvious that the size and Energy of the crowd was being shelved until the LSU game next weekend. New Mexico St. was an out of conference opponent scheduled for Military Appreciation Day. Win or lose, New Mexico St. was to earn a hefty payday for their efforts. Nick Suss of The Clarion Ledger writes; ‘Win or lose, Ole Miss has agreed to pay New Mexico State $1.5 million for their college football game at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium this weekend.

Which begs a simple question: Why? From the New Mexico State perspective, the game makes perfect sense. For an athletic department with an annual budget that ranges between $18-20 million annually, making almost 10% of that in one afternoon is a no-brainer.

But what does Ole Miss get out of the game? Interim athletics director Keith Carter said these games right now are about building up the program, especially coming off years of NCAA probation where most of the SEC got stronger and Ole Miss got weaker. “In the state of the program now, you’d love to find six wins to go to a bowl and get this thing going again,” Carter said. “You want to try to schedule teams that you hope come in and you can win the home game.”’

It was clear during the first quarter that even though the Gladiators from New Mexico St played with great zeal, their skill sets were not equal to the Gladiators of Ole Miss.

The Combat Game though entertaining, provided many moments to swap tales with the nearest member of 2 Wrongs = a Write. When asked for some info about the 2, the nearest member said that their journey to Ole Miss was initiated by the other member. A ‘Bucket List’ was mentioned, which included The Grove. Very little was shared about The Grove Experience, for most of the talk revolved around the Combat Game and other Shrines. It was apparent that the 2 Wrongs were also Pilgrims for their Feet had visited numerous Shrines. They too, practiced the Celebration of Pigskin many TIMES.

With halftime approaching, it was suggested that perhaps more info could be obtained from the 2 Wrong Pilgrims to add to the story. After handing my Feet his card, Kyle said that they would oblige after halftime and the 2 Wrong Pilgrims exited the area. Since it was Military Appreciation Day, my Feet decided to soak in the Halftime Show. A brief performance by the Ole Miss Marching band began the Show. Then a rather lengthy parade of every branch of the Military was next. Patriotic music accompanied the parade. When the parade concluded, all of the personnel including the Ole Miss Marching Band, formed a Salute to the USCG.

Realizing that my Feet would not be able to take a pic on the Jerry Hollingsworth Combat Field, the next pic shows how close my Feet would get during halftime and the Moon bids ‘Fair Thee Well’ to the Sun

As the 3rd quarter played on, the tempo of the Combat Game was now being played in front of less fans, including 2 Wrongs = a Write. The 2 Wrong Pilgrims did not return to their seats in order to obtain more information from them for the story. The IMAGINATION of my Feet then played out different scenarios for their no-return. One included that Kyle had to seek medical attention to reattach his left ear. For it was his left ear that he offered for my Feet to chew on. Eventually, for this section of the story, an email was sent to Kyle.

2 WRONGS = A WRITE
GREG & KYLE

Kyle responded with the following words. “Good morning George, It’s nice to hear from you! I remember having some great conversation about our love for college pigskin. My buddy Greg and I ended up walking around the stadium during halftime and then we took a seat over on the other side for a while. My ear was still attached just fine and I enjoyed talking to you and love that you go to so many great college games. You’ve got to get Knoxville on your list for next year as my Vols have raked in a top 10 recruiting class and should be back to playing some good football reminiscent of the days when I was in school there. Ha!

I’ll write up our experience down in Oxford(one of the best college football towns imo) and I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time there”. Note to readers. Neyland Stadium was visited during the 2015 College Football Pilgrimage. The story can be found in the Pilgrimage and/or College Sports Section on the Homepage. As one of the first Pilgrimage writings, a different format was used.

As previously written in other Celebration of Pigskin stories, the Combat Game is not the focal point. It is the Energy of the sights, sounds, smells and the interactions of the Fans plus Others, which constitutes the bulk of the story.

Next are pics of the Combat Game and other Festivities.

Regardless of the score and unless inclement weather decides otherwise, my Feet remain to the conclusion of the Combat Game. Nightfall and the cooler temperatures thinned out the remaining crowd as the Game played on to its conclusion. The fans that remained continued to cheer on the Gladiators from both teams, while the Ole Miss Band and Cheer Squads performed as if the Shrine was packed. Less fans also led to the hearing of Chatter from nearby fans. The Chatter from behind my Feet was full of both LOVE & Dysfunction. It was though my Feet was being Welcomed into this Family of LOVE & Dysfunction.

During the TIME of my Feet as a Health/Career Educator, topics of the class included Families, LOVE & Dysfunction. To set the record straight, the students were informed that there was not a ‘Perfect Family’ in real LIFE. Perfect Families could only be found in fiction, movies and TV shows. All other Families were inflicted with Dysfunction. It was the LOVE of Family Members that would combat Dysfunction to create Homeostasis for the Family. Families that shared a higher degree of LOVE worked out the problems of Dysfunction resulting in a Healthy Family. On the flip side, lower degrees of LOVE shared by Family Members resulted in more problems created by Dysfunction that contributed to the poor health of the Family.

The Chatter drew my Feet closer along with an introduction. Six members made up this Family of LOVE & Dysfunction. There were more members, but for various reasons, not all attended the Celebration of Pigskin. Included in this group was the Matriarch and the Patriarch, who were married for 45 years. After that, the LOVE & Dysfunction caused poor note keeping by my Feet. An attempt was made to decipher the notes. Next is a summary of the Family of LOVE & Dysfunction. There was a Daughter who brought her Son, which made him a Grandson. The Grandson brought a Female Companion, who may or may not have been in a relationship with the Grandson. The Female Companion was also declared as a grad of the University of New Mexico or it could have been New Mexico St University.

L TO R, FEMALE COMPANION-SON/GRANDSON-PATRIARCH
MATRIARCH-DAUGHTER -STRAY

The other male of the group was designated as a ‘Stray’. The Stray and the Female Companion were members of an Ole Miss Church Group. The Female Companion paid her allegiance to the New Mexico St Gladiators. The Matriarch, Patriarch, Daughter, and the Stray were Ole Miss Gladiator Fans, with different degrees of Passion. The Son/Grandson though bleeding the same color of red as his family, wore a different shade of red as his Passion. As a Renegade, his Passion belonged to the Georgia Bulldog Gladiators. All were fans with many levels of Passion, and a trip to the Celebration of Pigskin was scheduled on a routine basis. After taking their pic, the Family of LOVE & Dysfunction agreed to snap a pic of my Feet at Nightfall.

FOX FEATHER AT NIGHTFALL FOR CELEBRATION OF PIGSKIN

During the posting of the final score of the Combat Game, it was obvious that only a fraction of the original crowd was on hand to witness the Closing Ceremonies. Some Shrines offer a Closing Ceremony for the Celebration of Pigskin. Other Shrines take a different approach. Ole Miss offered a Closing Ceremony. The Ole Miss Band played from up high near the scoreboard, while Cheer Squad Members and Ole Miss Gladiators gathered in the end zone. It was the final scene before the curtain would come down ending another Celebration of Pigskin.

Before walking out of the Shrine, GRATITUDE was extended to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for hosting the Celebration of Pigskin for my Feet. Many Blessings & Gifts were offered inside the Shrine, which contributed to this story. Another task remained, locating the GRC under the light of the Moon and intermittent pole lights. Night light limits the visibility of the surrounding areas. The GRC was parked near the loading area for the Welcoming Wagons. If the loading area was discovered, then it was a straight line to the campsite of the Gray Rental Chariot.

Instead of walking without aim, the Security Guard standing outside the exit gate of the Shrine was available for questions. During our chat, the 2019 College Football Pilgrimage was added, which caused our conversation to increase. Since he was a Guard serving under King Richard the Lionhearted, my Feet shared the Denial of Entrance Story from Ritual Day. As the story was unfolding, a voice in the dark could be heard calling the name of my Feet. When the voice stepped into the light, it was King Richard the Lionhearted.

King Richard asked about the experience of the Celebration of Pigskin. While sharing the experience with King Richard and his Guard, my Feet acknowledged the Firm Stand by King Richard during Ritual Day and said that it was an HONOR to be standing in front of a King who stood firm to his ideals and principles. It was noted however, that in the future, when a Pilgrim from far off lands seeks Sanctuary on Ritual Day, perhaps more flexibility could be used. After receiving directions to the loading area and wishes for a Safe & Healthy Travel, my Feet THANKED King Richard and his Guard and returned Well Wishes.

In a short TIME, the loading area appeared, followed by another short walk to the GRC campsite. The GRC was among the lonely few Chariots left in the lot. Once the outer gear was stripped off, the GRC was fired up for the journey back to the main campsite in Pontotoc. During the drive back, thoughts of the Celebration of Pigskin joined as passengers Renting Space in the IMAGINATION of my Feet. As the GRC pulled into the main campsite, a major Renter of Space from Ritual Day was waiting in the parking lot to reenter the IMAGINATION of my Feet.

It was the Censorship by Facebook. After sending a glance its way, the Art of Shifting had produced Healthy Results. What was once considered an unwelcoming result was overrun by the Welcoming Results of Ritual Day and the Celebration of Pigskin. Censorship by Facebook was relegated to remain outside of the campsite, for it was not under the control of my Feet. Though it will become a result of the 2019 CFP, it would be addressed, as TIME & Forces allow. When the dawn would end the night, the 2019 College Football Pilgrimage would move to Mississippi State University and Davis Wade Stadium, the 6th Oldest College Football Shrine in the USA
