‘TAKE 5’ DREAM NEWSLETTER #2: 9/18/16–DISCRIMINATION CONTINUES AT BASIC HS/ACADEMY WITH TAXPAYERS FOOTING THE BILLS & ‘INTEGRITY’ IS QUESTIONED AT FOOTHILL HS. THESE TOPICS AND MORE WILL BE EXPLORED. YOU AS THE READER CAN DECIDE THE INSANITY OF THE STORY.
As our journey continues, local topics remain on the table. Why, because both of these issues remain unresolved and are affecting ‘The Dreams’ of others in our community of Henderson, NV. As mentioned previously our ‘Mission Statement’ has been changed to help Promote, Share the Dreams of others, and assist others to Protect their Dreams. Yes, Basic HS won the State Baseball Title, with our help last season, but answers to many of our questions last spring remain a question mark.
It is with Great News to announce. As requested by readers, this post is about 6,000 words.
DISCRIMINATION AT BASIC HS/ACADEMY STORY CONTINUES.
Merriam-Webster simple definition of ‘Discrimination’ is:
* “The practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from other people or groups of people
* The ability to recognize the difference between things that are of good quality and those that are not
* The ability to understand that one thing is different from another thing
Full definition includes:
a : the act, practice, or an instance of discriminating categorically rather than individually
b : prejudiced or prejudicial outlook, action, or treatment
DISCRIMINATING AMONG MEANINGS OF DISCRIMINATION
Discrimination has senses with neutral, positive, and negative connotations. On the one hand, it can refer to “the act (or power) of distinguishing” or to “good taste, refinement.” These meanings, sometimes reinforced with modifiers (as in a fine or a nice discrimination), stress an ability to perceive differences as an index of unusual intelligence.
On the other hand, when the perception of difference is marked by invidious distinction or hostility, the word (often followed by against) takes on very negative overtones, as in the senses “act of discriminating categorically rather than individually” (discrimination against women, age discrimination) and “a prejudiced outlook or course of action” (racial discrimination).
The original, neutral sense of discrimination, “the act of distinguishing,” came into English by the early 17th century, followed by the positive one associated with superior discernment in the 18th century. Discrimination in the “prejudice” sense has been in use since the early 19th century, almost 200 years ago”.
With the definition of ‘Discrimination’ thoroughly explained, let me continue. Questions about the perceived ‘Discrimination’ at Basic HS/Academy danced in my head throughout the summer. The Quest for the ‘Truth of my Insanity’ continues. The Las Vegas media ‘Watchdogs’ of our community declined to investigate my findings. ‘Silence’ has been their response.
THE CITY OF HENDERSON AFTER ACKNOWLEDGING RECEIVING MY FINDINGS WROTE TO ME THE FOLLOWING :
May 2016—from Mark Hardy
Dear George Feher,
Thank you for taking the time to write to the Office of the Mayor & City Council regarding your concerns. The letters you mailed as well as this case have been passed on to Mayor Hafen and Councilwoman Schroder.
Unfortunately, your concern is a matter for CCSD. The City of Henderson does not have jurisdiction over CCSD.
Another point of contact for you in Trustee Wright’s office would be Loreasa Nary, llnary@interact.ccsd.net or 702-799-1072.
THIS IS WHAT I KNOW.
The City of Henderson with their wisdom ‘passed the buck’ of ‘Discriminatory Practices’ of the CCSD back to my original starting point Trustee Wright who sanctions these ‘Discriminatory Practices’ at Basic HS/Academy. The City informed me to ‘Hang My Cap’ with the CCSD.
As I swim in ‘My Fishbowl’ here in Henderson, NV, is there anyone out there reading this, who can offer ‘Sanity’ to help ease my ‘Insanity’? Where does one go to report practices of discriminations on a High School campus in the CCSD?
The City of Henderson tells me that there is no place to ‘Hang My Cap’ with the City, for ‘Discriminatory Practices’ conducted by another ‘public entity’ on property owned in the City. If it is not the City’s ‘Jurisdiction’, then whose it to protect the welfare of all the City residents?
Why then do residents pay taxes? If the City refuses to protect families/players, and CCSD employees within their boundaries of their City against ‘Discriminatory Practices’ by the CCSD, then the City of Henderson also gives consent to this ‘Discrimination Policy of the CCSD’.
LET ME REVIEW THESE ‘DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES’ AT BASIC HS/ACADEMY.
* In order to be considered being part of the high school baseball team, a player/family has to voluntarily/mandatorily join the club baseball organization and pay monthly dues of $250. In addition, other fees will be accessed accordingly for ‘tutoring sessions’, tournament costs, ‘Spirit Packs’, summer baseball, etc. Additional travel costs will vary by player/family.
* For the privilege of playing baseball at a Public High School, Basic HS/Academy, a player/family will pay approximately $5,000+ a year. (Please correct me if that figure is too high.)
* If the above statement is true, then a player/family will pay upwards to $20,000 or more for the privilege to play baseball at Basic HS/Academy for four years. (This four-year fee can pay for and or subsidize a local college degree.)
* Cases have been reported to me and by others because of these costs; players/families could not afford these exorbitant fees resulting in the players being discriminated against from playing high school baseball because of his family’s financial situation.
* Unless told otherwise, this ‘club sport for profit’ is not offered for any other sport at Basic HS/Academy. If the previous statement is true, the results are that all other coaches at Basic HS/Academy are being discriminated against for not being able to set up their own ‘club sport for profit’.
* If a ‘club sport for profit’ is operating at Basic HS/Academy, then why is this option not available to all staff members to set up their own ‘club sport/activity for profit’ at Basic HS/Academy? This would also be a result of ‘Discriminatory Practices’ against all staff members of Basic HS/Academy.
THE ‘QUEST FOR THE TRUTH OF MY INSANITY’ LED ME TO CREATE THE FOLLOWING LETTER. THE INTENT OF THIS LETTER WAS TO SEEK HELP FOR MY QUEST. THIS LETTER WAS EMAILED/FAXED TO HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE HENDERSON, NV AREA. IT WAS ADDRESSED TO THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL IN CHARGE OF ATHLETICS.
9/12/16
To: Green Valley, Silverado, Foothill, Coronado, and Liberty High School
My name is George Feher. I am a former Educator with 33 plus years with the CCSD. Currently, one of the roles I play in the Henderson community has me as the Executive Officer of the Nick Feher ‘TAKE 5’ Foundation. I write seeking your assistance.
During the past few years, I have been tracking and writing about the operations of a club baseball program at Basic HS/Academy on my Facebook page, The Nick Feher ‘TAKE 5’ Foundation. My posts have also been shared on my website @ playinyourdreams.com.
If you have the time, I invite you to read my journey and discoveries in my enhanced posts titled ‘TAKE 5’ 2016 Quest to Help Win a State Title’, Parts 1-6 on my website. Posts can be accessed by clicking on Section, ‘Win a State Title’ on my Homepage. On the other hand, you can read the same story without enhancements on my Facebook page starting on 2/26/16 through 6/13/16.
Since I have not received a reply from the Las Vegas media concerning this issue, and because the City of Henderson has ‘passed the buck’, I have decided to seek your help. I encourage you to discuss my request with other members of your administration, including your Principal, if need be, before you make a decision on my simple request.
My simple request is for you and/or school to respond to the following questions in a timely manner before the end of Friday 9/16/16. Unless you give me permission, I will not use your personal name. However, I would with your permission, use the name of your school. If you feel otherwise, please indicate for my next story.
Before answering my questions, a definition of a sports club organization operating on your campus is an outside school organization that charges your students to play in a sport/activity during the off-season while utilizing your campus facilities. The head coach of this organization could be the head coach or assistant coach of the same scholastic sport at your school.
However, the coach may or not be an educator or classified employee on your staff, and/or in the CCSD. Part of the payment by your students to this organization, is then paid to your school for the use of these facilities by an outside sports club organization. The rest of the students’ fees are paid to this outside organization supplementing the head coach and assistant coaches’ salaries.
QUESTIONS:
* Does your High School sanction a club baseball organization on your campus, as does Basic HS/Academy?
* If you do, can you please supply me the name of this club baseball organization?
* Does your High School sanction any club sports organization or ‘club sports for profit’ for your students/families on your campus?
* If you do sanction ‘club sports for profit’ at your school, is this option available for all of your coaches to set up their own ‘club sports for profit’?
* Would this option exist for all members of your staff to set-up their own ‘club sports/activities for profit’ at your school? Examples include Teachers setting up tutoring clubs after school and charging students for their services in all subjects, including the Arts. Teachers/Staff would have to follow same guidelines being used by the club baseball organization at Basic HS/Academy, or your school’s guidelines.
If you wish to expand on your answers of my questions and/or add other comments about your ‘Philosophy’ of ‘club sports for profit’ on your High School campus, please do so. Attached is a copy of our brochure that is used during my talks on Motivation & ‘TAKE 5’.
I thank you for your time for this important issue. If I could ever be of service to you, your staff and/or your students, I stand ready to serve. I look forward to your timely response.

INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE OTHER LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS, FOR WHICH I HAVE NO CONTROL OF, THE CASE OF ‘DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES’ AT BASIC HS/ACADEMY CONTINUES ON ITS OWN MERITS.
Recently the Las Vegas Review Journal wrote a six-part series on ‘The Game of Recruiting’. It was a very informative piece covering many topics in the world of Club Sports, High School Sports, and College Sports. This is a must read for all parents/student athletes with ‘Dreams’ of attending College on an Athletic Scholarship.
Key points included:
* Long Odds-About two percent of high school athletes receive college scholarships. Fewer than 2 percent of college athletes go on to play professionally.
* 7% of high school baseball players make it to play in the NCAA. Division 1 equals 2.1%. Division 2 equals 2.2%. Division 3 equals 2.7%.
* To expand my research, ScholarshipStats.com writes the following: NAIA equals 1.4%. NJCAA equals 2.3%. Other equals 0.9%.
* The overall percentage of high school baseball players playing at the college level is 11.5%.
* The overall odds include: Playing baseball in any Division in College is 9:1. Playing in NCAA Division 1 is 47-1. Playing Pro Baseball is 764:1
* 2015 Average Team Size, Athletic Scholarships Limit per Team, and Average Athletic Scholarship per Year include:
*NCAA Division 1 equals 35-11.7-$14,737.
*NCAA Division 2 equals 38-9-$6,125.
*NCAA Division 3 equals 34-0-$0.
*NAIA equals 38-12-$6,687.
*USCAA & Other 4 Year equals 24-0-$866.
*NJCAA equals 30-24-$2,360.
*CCCAA & Other 2 year equals 30-n/a-$214.
* ** Do the Math! The average NCAA Division I baseball team has a roster of 35 players but only a maximum of 11.7 athletic scholarships available. This means the average award covers only about 1/3 of annual college costs and this assumes the sport is fully funded at the sponsoring school.
Baseball is an equivalency sport for NCAA scholarship purposes, so partial scholarships can be awarded to meet the NCAA limit per school. For example, an NCAA Division II school can award 27 baseball players each a 1/3 equivalent scholarship and still meet the limit of 9.
* Average Athletic Scholarship is the average award per athlete for ALL varsity sports sponsored by the specific school. Some athletes receive full awards, some receive partial and many receive none. Additionally some sports within a school may be fully funded, some partially and some sports provide no athletic scholarships. Private schools generally have higher tuition than public schools and the average award will reflect this.
ONE OF THE MAIN ARGUMENTS FOR PLAYERS/PARENTS WHO VOLUNTARILY/MANDATORILY PAY THIS $250 A MONTH IN SUPPORT OF THIS ‘CLUB SPORT FOR PROFIT’ AT BASIC HS/ACADEMY IS THAT THE HEAD COACH GETS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR HIS PLAYERS.
First of all, to debunk that argument, it is the players in all the sports who earn the scholarships. Not once have I ever witnessed a coach, including myself, do all the hard work necessary that these athletes do to achieve their ‘Dreams’. Coaches coach, players ‘Pay the Price’.
If the facts are true about scholarships in the two articles, I quoted; only 1 in 9 players in his organization at Basic HS/Academy will earn a college scholarship. Currently on his fall roster, 17 players make up the gold team and 16 players play on the silver team. That is a total of 33 high school players.
If we do the math, only 3 players on the current roster, according to 2015 national studies, will earn a college baseball scholarship valued at an average of $4,909 a year. If that is true, then what are the other 30 players paying for?
IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT MOST PLAYERS FROM HIS PROGRAM THAT EARN A BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP IS TO A NJCAA PROGRAM IS WORTH $2,360/YEAR OR $5,320 FOR TWO YEARS. AFTER THAT TWO-YEAR PERIOD, THAT PLAYER WILL HAVE TO TRANSFER TO A 4-YEAR SCHOOL WITH OR WITHOUT A NEW BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP TO COMPLETE HIS FOUR-YEAR DEGREE.
That $2,660 average, college baseball scholarship for a year, is less than the $5,000+; a baseball player/family has to pay a year to have the privilege of playing baseball at Basic HS/Academy. The amount of money a player/family will pay to a ‘club sport for profit’ over a four-year period of $20,000+ is greater than an average 2-year average partial college baseball scholarship of $5,320.
It was estimated in previous posts that this ‘club sport for profit’ head coach at Basic HS/Academy makes $100,000+ a year for his operations, which is now a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. With his current status, he receives a discount from the CCSD to utilize taxpayers’ funded facilities at a reduced fee.
A non-profit, tax exempt organization is a complex beast in the world of finance and tax liability. This complexity is best left to the legal experts in this field.
To summarize from a player/family perspective in order to play baseball at Basic HS/Academy a penalty/fee of $20,000+ will be required for four years with the chance of being 1 out of 9 players on the roster to earn a 2-year college scholarship worth $5,320.
The value of investment is less than the value of return. 30 out of the 33 players on the ‘club sport for profit’ will lose their entire investment. Their investment supports the other 3 players and the ‘club sport for profit’ financial pockets.
Unknowingly these players who do not earn college baseball scholarships are being ‘Discriminated’ against. These player/families were sold ‘gold’, but received ‘fool’s gold’ instead. No scholarships were earned and they exited the program looking like ‘fools’.
For their $20,000+ investment, these players/families earned the following certificate that reads:
“Thank you for being a ‘FOOL’. Your son earned nothing, but my pockets earned $20,000+. Please tell your friends and others”.
With their ‘Certificate’ hanging proudly on their wall in their refinanced house, they are too embarrassed to tell others about how they were such a ‘FOOL’. Once removed from the program, there is no one to report this ‘Discrimination’.
DISCRIMINATION #1—NOT ALL PLAYERS EARN COLLEGE BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIPS AS PROMISED. THOSE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO EARN ONE, ON THE AVERAGE WILL SPEND MORE IN 4 YEARS TO PLAY ON THE ‘CLUB SPORT FOR PROFIT’ AT BASIC HS/ACADEMY THAN WHAT THEIR 2-4 YEAR COLLEGE BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE WORTH.
DISCRIMINATION #2—There is a known group of players/families because of financial situations, cannot afford to pay the $5,000+ a year to play baseball at Basic HS/Academy. With ‘TAKE 5” as a supporter of the local Boys/Girls Club in Henderson, it is also a known fact that many of the Club members and families cannot afford this fee/penalty to play baseball at the Basic HS/Academy.
Because of their current financial situation, these players/families are being ‘Discriminated’ against from playing baseball at Basic HS/Academy. Since the CCSD sanctions these ‘Discriminatory Practices’, the players/families have no legal recourse in the matter. They choose to remain ‘Silent’, for fear of retribution resulting in others stompin on the Dreams of their sons and families.
DISCRIMINATION #3—Not all Coaches at Basic HS/Academy are treated the same. Currently only Baseball has been designated by the principal to be a ‘club sport for profit’. All other coaches and sports program have to operate under different CCSD guidelines. These separate practices are ‘Discriminatory’ because they prevent the other coaches of reaping the same potential financial rewards as the head baseball coach.
A closer look at the 2016-17 CCSD Negotiated Agreement, Article 37, ‘Extra Pay For Extra Schedule’ reveals the following:
* Head M Baseball Coach is to earn .079 of Index Class A. Step 1 Base Salary. The coach’s Base Teaching Salary predicates the Base Salary.
* Coach A’s Base Teaching Salary is $50,000. One can multiply $50,000 X .079 for a coaching stipend of $3,950.
* Coach B’s Base Teaching Salary is $75,000. One can multiply $75,000 X .079 for a coaching stipend of $5,925.
* Most head coaching positions, along with a few assistant coaches are within the .079 range.
* Currently, the head baseball coach for ‘club sport for profit’ at Basic HS/Academy earns an estimated yearly salary of $100,000+ for only coaching baseball a few hours after school.
‘Silence’ has been the other coaches’ response.
DISCRIMINATION #4—The head baseball coach for the ‘club sport for profit’ at Basic HS/Academy has his yearly salary estimated to be $100,000+ annually. His ‘magical bookkeeping’ would prove otherwise. A starting teacher at Basic HS/Academy CCSD is scheduled to earn $40,900 a school year. The top tier teacher in the CCSD can earn $90,877 a school year.
Let me explain the vast differences between the head baseball coach and an Educator at Basic HS/Academy.
* All Educators have paid for and earned a College Education Degree. Some have also paid for and earned advanced Degrees. The head baseball coach does not have a College Degree in any field.
* The Educator will have average 33.5 students a class. For six classes, the Educator will be responsible for 201 total students. The head baseball coach is responsible for only 33 players a few hours after school each day.
* The Educator is a licensed employee of the CCSD. The head baseball coach is neither a licensed nor a classified employee of the CCSD. His job title with the CCSD is head baseball coach at Basic HS/Academy.
* The Educator earns their salary while being employed by the CCSD. The head baseball coach earns the bulk of his salary through his organization, ‘club sport for profit’ while receiving a ‘sweetheart deal’ with the CCSD to taxpayers facilities at Basic HS/Academy.
When you compare the Educational requirements, licensing, workload, and hours on the job, etc., between the head baseball coach and the Educators at Basic HS/Academy, it is quite obvious that ‘Discriminatory Practices’ are in effect. As with the other two groups, they remain ‘Silent’. There is no outside agency to assist them.
If you remember, I wrote a letter on the Educators’ behalf to the CCEA explaining the ‘Discriminatory Practices’ at Basic HS/Academy. The CCEA is currently in shambles. According to a report, ‘Teacher Union Opt Out’ in the Las Vegas RJ dated 7/10/16, only 9,526 of 18,275 teachers paid yearly dues of $800 to the Association.
Chances are only 50% of the Educators at Basic HS/Academy are members of the CCEA. These 50% and the other non-members realize the CCEA has no ‘clout’ to assist them. In their attempt to oust CCSD Trustee Deanna Wright from her board seat in the 2016 June primaries, resulted in the CCEA candidate not reaching the final two for the general election.
The election news however, was very promising to remove Trustee Wright from office. With 5 candidates to choose from, Trustee Wright only gathered 31% of the vote. Which means 69% of eligible voters cast their ballots for another candidate.
DISCRIMINATION #5—This ‘club sport for profit’ is now in the sixth year of its operation at Basic HS/Academy. In the first five years of operation, it is estimated that total income earned for this ‘club sport for profit’ exceeded $500,000 or a half of a million dollars. When you factor in the under 12 team also using the facilities at Basic HS/Academy, total income for The 2016-17 year is projected to exceed $125,000.
With the financial success of this operation, the principal and the head baseball coach refuse to share this blueprint with all other staff members of the Basic HS/Academy. Not once in five years has there been a meeting with all staff members disclosing the ‘Blueprints’ of this operation.
This lack of disclosure can be considered ‘Discriminatory Practices’. All staff members at Basic HS/Academy should be provided the same opportunity to set up their own individual after school ‘club sport/activity for profit’ on their campus. They should also be granted the same ‘Taxpayer Benefits –Sweetheart Deal’ that are being provided to the ‘club sport for profit.
If a survey was taken at Basic HS/Academy, very few, if any staff members, would be able to quote the CCSD regulations and procedures that the ‘club sport for profit’ is operating under, let alone if they are being enforced by the CCSD.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ‘SWEETHEART DEAL’ INCLUDES:
* The ‘club sport for profit’ pays fees less than $10 a day for the use of the entire Basic HS/Academy. This includes access and usage of baseball field, clubhouse, batting cages, two bullpens with artificial grass, all equipment to maintain field, plus all other outdoor facilities including the football field and track.
* Indoor facilities include; classrooms, lecture hall, cafeteria, gymnasiums, fitness/weight rooms and everywhere else a master key has access.
* With the fees less than $10 a day, all indoor utilities will be included at no additional costs. Taxpayers will pay the following in support of the ‘club sport for profit’; utility costs for all indoor facilities used, including lighting, cooling, heating, plumbing, water, etc., plus maintenance fees.
* For less than $10 a day, the ‘club sport for profit’ will also receive at taxpayers’ expense the following; free utilities for the baseball facilities. These include as much water needed to irrigate the field plus electricity to power the clubhouse to run the AC, lights, satellite equipment and TV. As a bonus, taxpayers will also pay to light up the field at night and power the Snack Shack.
* The CCSD at Taxpayers’ expense also preps and maintains the baseball field for the ‘club sport for profit’ for less than $10 a day. Services include; fertilizing the field, aeration of the field, infield care as requested, mowing the outfield grass and other maintenance to the baseball complex including irrigation and plumbing to clubhouse.
AS I CONCLUDE THIS SEGMENT, MANY FACTS HAVE BEEN PRESENTED. SOME WILL PERCEIVE THE INFO AS NON-DISCRIMINATORY. OTHERS WILL PERCEIVE THE INFO AS DISCRIMINATORY.
During the past months, the only official response from the office of Trustee Wright has been ‘Silence’. If this is a sanctioned operation by the CCSD, citizens with very limited financial resources, are unable to investigate the ‘Legality’ of this ‘club sport for profit’. To determine if the policies are being enforced according to the CCSD regulations, only an outside agency with legal means can investigate this ‘Legality’.
Though the City of Henderson claims they have no jurisdiction in the business of the CCSD, they do have jurisdiction in whether a crime is being committed on the campus of the Basic HS/Academy. They have the power to protect its citizens in the case of fraud, corruption, and/or discrimination.
All the City of Henderson has to do to protect the rights of their citizens is to obtain a subpoena and/or search warrant to gain copies of the CCSD regulations and paperwork that verifies this ‘club sport for profit’ is operating legally within the City limits. If all the required paperwork matches, then this operation can be deemed legal. If not, it can be declared illegal.
I exchanged the following during May 2016 with a local media outlet. (Names have been omitted.)
Thank you for your kind response. Please let me share with you a ‘smoking gun’. This info has not been written about on my website or Facebook page.
According to the district, the following are the two CCSD regulations that the head coach is operating under.
- Procedure for District Facility Use Request (CCF-410)
- Clark County School District Facility Usage In-Kind Service Agreement
To receive ‘special treatment’ from the CCSD, an organization must present a copy of their non-profit, tax-exempt status among other pertinent documents. The head coach in May of 2014, at a baseball banquet, where I served as a MC and ‘Guest Speaker’, publicly thanked certain individuals in the audience for assisting him with the paperwork to finally attain his non-profit, tax-exempt status.
If what he said was true, then what status was he operating with the CCSD prior to that between September 2011 and May 2014? Since the ‘club sport for profit’ is now a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, his records can be accessed by a request. An investigation should also disclose all his income and expenditures.
IF WHAT I WROTE IS TRUE, THEN UNDER WHAT SET OF CCSD REGULATIONS WAS THE ‘CLUB SPORT FOR PROFIT’ OPERATING UNDER BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 2011 AND MAY 2014?
The head coach publicly said he was a profit organization with tax liabilities prior to May 2014. Again, access to these files as a citizen are limited unless your agency is authorized to do so. A proper review of these files can then determine if this ‘club sport for profit’ has been operating legally under the regulations of the CCSD from 2011-2016.
Only an outside agency with investigative powers can determine the ‘legality’ of this ‘club sport for profit’. If discovery leads to ‘illegality’, then this organization should be held accountable for their illegal ways. If the investigation proves that all is in order and legal, then ‘TAKE 5’ will tip their cap.
If the ‘club sport for profit’ is declared a ‘legal’ operation within the CCSD, then the CCSD, Basic HS/Academy, and the ‘club sport for profit’ should have to answer to the ‘Discriminatory Practices’ that have been previously outlined.
Please take no offense to my next statement. If this were a LGBT Discrimination issue, every media outlet in Las Vegas, and other national media would be covering this story. Every State official from the Governor on down would be commenting on this issue.
The Federal Government would launch an investigation. Local government officials would compete for media time. All local, state and federal law enforcements would conduct its own investigation.
Since these ‘Discriminatory Practices’ are not a LGBT issue, the definition of ‘Discrimination’ still confirms that these ‘Discriminatory Practices’ on the campus of Basic HS/Academy are cases of ‘Discrimination’.
ON THE CCSD WEBSITE IT STATES, “NON-DISCRIMINATION AND ACCESSIBILITY NOTICE”
Excerpts include:
“CCSD does not knowingly discriminate against any person on the basis of race, creed/religion, color, national or ethnic origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, marital status or age, in admission or access to, treatment or employment in, or participation in its programs and activities, and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts of America and other designated youth groups, pursuant to federal and state laws including, but not limited to, Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act, Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act.
CCSD is an equal opportunity employer. Employees who feel discriminated against should contact their immediate supervisor. Students, parents, and other program participants who feel discriminated against may initiate a complaint by contacting the principal of the school in question. The building principal will work with the designated employee and respond to the inquiry within a reasonable period of time.
CCSD is committed to nondiscrimination in its programs, activities and services, and to providing facility accessibility. Parents, students, staff, or other members of the public, who are seeking information or have questions about the existence and location of accessible services, activities, and facilities in the district, should contact the building principal with their inquiry.
The building principal may, if necessary, refer the person to one or more of the following individuals, who will respond to the inquiry within a reasonable period of time.
THE CCSD IS A RIGGED SYSTEM. IF ONE WAS TO FILE A DISCRIMINATION COMPLAINT AT BASIC HS/ACADEMY, IT MUST BE REPORTED FIRST TO THE PRINCIPAL. HE IS THE SAME PRINCIPAL THAT SANCTIONS THE ‘DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES’ OF THE ‘CLUB SPORT FOR PROFIT’ ON HIS CAMPUS. THE RESULTS WOULD BE ‘THE COMPLAINT STOPS HERE’.
Until an outside agency with investigative powers confirms that the ‘club sport for profit’ on the campus of Basic HS/Academy has and is operating legally within the regulations of the CCSD, I will continue my one-man campaign to Promote, Share and help Protect the Dreams of others in the Henderson Community.
If an outside agency, deems that this ‘club sport for profit’ at Basic HS/Academy is operating legally within CCSD regulations, then what agency will be responsible to investigate the charges of ‘Discriminatory Practices’ at Basic HS/Academy?
MY DEADLINE FOR MY ‘SIMPLE REQUEST’ TO OTHER HIGH SCHOOLS HAS PASSED. ‘SILENCE’ HAS BEEN THEIR RESPONSE.
One can then assume with the ‘Silence’, that Green Valley HS, Liberty HS, Coronado HS, Silverado HS, and Foothill HS all give ‘Consent’ to the oldest castle in the land. As in the ‘Game of Thrones’ all castles constructed after Basic HS/Academy agree and bowed down to their powers.
Caution to all living in those above mentioned zones. With the new ‘autonomy schools’ where the principal will have the ‘final say’ in what is best for you and your family, is coming your way. ‘Club sport for profit’ may be setting up stakes on your campus. You too can then partake in the ‘Discriminatory Practices’.
Just think, your sport could be the ‘chosen sport’. For your child to play a ‘chosen sport’ in high school, start saving your money. Basic HS/Academy requires a voluntarily/mandatorily fee/penalty of $250 a month, $5,000 a year and $20,000 for four years to play high school baseball. The future is calling.
With that said, I am but one person with one vote. To protect the Dreams of others in the Henderson Community, I will cast my ballot starting with ‘Anyone but the Stank of D.A.W. for CCSD Trustee’.
Perhaps the new CCSD Trustee with a new vision might agree that ‘Discriminatory Practices’ are occurring on the campus Basic HS/Academy and put a halt to it so that all others in the Community will be provided the opportunity to PLAYIN THEIR DREAMS. If not, after the elections my Quest will continue until I find ‘The Truth of my Insanity’.
The baseball coach at Foothill HS did not ever take me up on my offer for me to publicly respond to the letter that he emailed me last winter. Since ‘Silence’ has been his response, he has granted me permission to print my response on our Facebook page and website @ playinyourdreams.com.
Following the ‘wisdom’ of Brooke the Bartender/Mixologist at the Piazza Lounge in the Tuscany Suites on Flamingo Road, it is time to end this post. When asked if she completed all that was on her list on her trip back to the Midwest, she looked at me, ‘Smiled’, batted those ‘blue eyes’ and cast another spell on me. She said, “I ran out of time”.
I replied, you sound like a coach when asked about the team’s loss, the coach said,
The Foothill Post will be included in our 2016 ‘TAKE 5’ October Dream Newsletter. Our ‘TAKE 5’ Dream Newsletter will be produced on a regular basis in one format or another. Some posts will be longer than others will. In future posts I will continue to Share, Promote, and help Protect the Dreams of others including my own.

You will be able to follow my 2016 College Football Pilgrimage as posts will be developed when time permits. In the archive section ‘College Sports/Football’, you will find stories of my 2015 College Football Pilgrimage.
If you have not done so, I encourage you to receive your ‘Blessings’ from the David Perrico Pop Strings Orchestra. Check out their schedule on Saturday Nights, 11pm for a free 90+minute ‘Midnight Mass Festival’ on the Palms Hotel/Casino website.
This ‘Insane Orchestra’ is the only one in town that blends ‘olde world’ string instruments with the pop sounds of today and yesterday with ‘Jazz’ infusions.
If a ‘Female Jazz Singer’ is your preference to have your ‘soul touched’, Laura Shaffer performs for no-cover Monday Nights in the Piazza Lounge at the Tuscany Suites/Casino from 7:30pm-11:30pm. Her act is four sets. She will weave you into her world of illusion as ‘Noir Nightingale’ with her outstanding Trio, of Stand-up Bass Player, Piano Player, and Drummer.
While there, say hello to Brooke the Bartender/Mixologist and watch her perform as she sways and dances while she mixes and serves drinks. If chosen, she may bless you and ‘Mix’ her Power and Inspiration into your drink. My last visit there proves testament.
While enjoying an appetizer of Meatballs, another patron asked me what I was eating. I told him the Meatballs and the ‘special side-order of breads and oil’ compliments of Brooke. With Brooke listening, I explained to him that it was the special side order, which made the meal.
He then said, it looks really good and that Brooke must have the ‘Power’. He then asked me if I had told her about her ‘Power’. I replied, I did. He then asked, do you think she believes you? I said I do not know, but I will keep trying. Brooke then looked at us both and blest us with her ‘Smile’.
Let me close with a quote by co-founder of Apple Inc. Steve Jobs,
